YOLast week, we got a question from someone about their Pilot Custom 823 which inspired us to share this common mistake many people make with this beloved gold nib fountain pen. The pen has an ink shut off valve which has to be twisted open to allow ink to flow. If the valve is twisted shut, you might get some writing done but after a few lines, the ink will dry up. A few other fountain pens such as the TWSBI Vac and Opus 88s also have this feature.
