The King of Iran 🇮🇷 , Anushirvan Khosrow, ordered his wisest minister, Bozorgmehr, to create a game as well. The Iranian minister, who was one of the great scholars, created the beautiful game of Backgammon (Takhte Nard).
The philosophy and symbolism of Backgammon:
• 30 pieces: represent the 30 days of a month
• 24 squares: represent the 24 hours of a day
• 4 sections of the board: represent the 4 seasons of the year
• 5 rounds of play: represent the 5 times of day (prayers/periods)
• 2 colors (black and white): night and day
• Each side has 12 squares: the 12 months of the year
• The board itself: the Earth
• The playing field: the sky
• The dice: the stars of fate and fortune
• The roll of the dice: the passage of time
• The pieces: human beings
