Siskins, Nuthatches, Great Tits but the best of the bunch has to be the brightly coloured Crossbills.
They'd flock around the firs before dropping in, seeming to have a particular pecking order amongst the group. Fights and bickering were common too.
They prise seeds out of pinecones with that specially adapted beak, which it thirsty work, so I've been hoping to film them drinking for soo long 🎥
It's usually the best time to see the incredible beak and feather detail at close quarters, while they drink from puddles and streams, but even though they were still fairly high, I'll take what I can get! 💚

AL🖤 Blackbirds are already nesting – they're amongst the earliest to start, sometimes as early as late February.
I love our blackbird. On lighter mornings now, he's the first one I hear when I wake up, and I always listen out for his low, fluting song. When I'm out filling the feeders, he follows me down the path in that stop-start hopping way they have.
Come summer, I've learned to listen for his alarm call – a frantic, rattling chatter that cuts through everything else. When I hear it, I always look to see what's coming. It can be a red kite overhead, a sparrowhawk in the hedge, a cat nearby, or our dog crashing about where she shouldn't be.
Blackbirds raise up to three broods between March and July. The male's song is one of the best sounds in any British garden, and watching them yank worms from the lawn with that determined tug never gets old.
One of my earliest birding memories was watching my best friend's grandfather feeding a tame blackbird blackcurrant jam from a teaspoon on his garden bench in Norfolk, and they'll always hold a special place in my heart.
