THThere’s something quietly confident about a place that only does one thing.
Tucked away in Hackney, Pockets is exactly that — a tiny, no-frills spot turning out some of the best falafel pitas I’ve had in London.
The pita is impossibly soft, still warm, and packed to the brim with crispy, herby falafel, sharp cabbage salad, a hit of fiery zhoug, sweet tangy amba, and — the surprise — a golden disc of deep-fried potato that somehow pulls it all together.
It’s messy, comforting, and full of flavour in every bite.

DIA Sunday Roast but let’s make it bbq style 🍖
Tucked behind @fivepointsbrew you’ll find bbq legends @fromtheashesbbq I’ve wanted to try their smoked bbq meats for soo long and finally got to collaborate for their Sunday roast!
For £26 I opted for a combination meat roast, using their Cornish Smoked Rump and Smoked Half Chicken. This was a feast! Loved the simplicity of both meats, the flavour comes from the quality of the meat and from the smoke pits. Loved the beef fat potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and cauli cheese!
Their homemade brownies with salted caramel sauce will steal the show because that was spectacular (remember I’m a sweet over savoury gal). Great meal, go check out @fromtheashesbbq!

How our sourdough compares to theirs - of course @thedustyknuckle ‘s bread is the pinnacle loaf but we’re not super disappointed with the difference.
Things we’ll be continuing to work on to get closer to their level are: bigger air pockets, bouncier/fluffier texture, less sticky crust (although we think that’s down to how we store ours)
The Dusty Knuckle are well worth the hype and we will pick up another loaf when we return 🌝
