CHAfter the word TO, do we use a base verb or an ING verb?
There’s a common misconception that we always use the base verb after TO, while ING verbs only follow other prepositions.
However, that isn’t the case!
After prepositional phrases, we use an ING verb whether the preposition is TO, FOR, OF, or any other.
The same applies to adjective phrases with adjective + TO, like used to or addicted to.
On the other hand, TO is followed by the base verb when it’s part of the infinitive. For example, when showing purpose (I called you to tell you something), after certain verbs (want, need), or after adjectives (it’s easy to do, it’s hard to see).
So, it depends on whether TO is functioning as a preposition in a phrase, or as part of the infinitive.

大部份人寫嘢Grammar錯都係因為唔明白Prepotions同Nouns兩者之間嘅關係。因此用咗補習嘅「攞分句子」但係經常用錯。
除咗要熟悉常見prepositions，大家仲要明白名詞有幾多變化，例如動詞加ing (gerund)都係一種名詞，靈活運用喺作文度。
To嘅用法有兩種：1）preposition & 2）to+infinitive。Preposition嘅to後面要跟名詞。to-infinitive係to後面加一個不變動詞。大家一定要分清楚。

EN‘Both’ is paired with ‘and’ to add emphasis to two coordinated elements in a sentence.
The correlative construction also demands a certain symmetry of form. Each element must mirror the other in grammatical structure, lest the sentence stumble into ungainly imbalance. If a prepositional phrase follows the first, a prepositional phrase must follow the second; if a verb in the infinitive form is employed, its counterpart must likewise be an infinitive. In short, the two wings of this phrase must beat in unison, or the sentence will never take graceful flight.
- Infelicitous: Miss Fairchild took pleasure in rambling both across the heath and the garden. [a prepositional phrase followed by a lone noun]
