We did it! We made progress on the backlog list! The weight off my shoulders is hugely relieved. My ADHD has been running rampant and left unchecked... until now! Now my list is much longer than 8 items but this was a huge dent. There is still much to do so we will have to come back to this list after I complete a HUGE unfinished room makeover that I attempted to start earlier this year. Huge shoutout to @sarahellenrandall who inspired this series. She started a similar series that inspired me to not only cross items off my abandoned to-do list but to also learn how to use my dslr and upgrade my video quality. Here are the two things that actually made me stop procrastinating and start working right after making my list. *EDIT - Typo in the reel captions - shared* NOT shed. 1. All tasks that take less than five minutes must be done immediately. As soon as I finish making my list, I clear those five-minute tasks first. That small action gets momentum going for the bigger tasks later. 2. I give myself two options. If there’s a task on my to-do list and I get distracted by Instagram, WhatsApp, puzzles, or even my dog, I tell myself: either I do the task, or I do nothing. Nothing means literally nothing — no painting, no reading, no puzzles, no dog time. I can just sit or sleep. That usually pushes me to get the task done. This is my secret to staying productive: . After trying countless systems and feeling overwhelmed, I finally found a planning system that works for me. I use one planner for organizing to-dos and daily journaling while the other for time tracking and brain and info dumping. . I find that having a separate daily planner helps me to park the information to be sorted later. It gives me a blank space per day to be messy and free. When I time track, I use color-coded markers to help categorize activities, so I can keep my main archive planner neat while the second catches my life's messy details that can be sorted later. . You can of course do it all in one common planner, that's what the blank pages are for. But I just wanted to add something where I wouldn't feel self conscious about creating a mess, think of it as a temporary junk drawer. . I love using color-coding (shout out to my favorites: Mildliners, and Tombow brush markers!) to categorize different aspects of my life - from outdoor time to homeschool lessons. This system lets me keep my main planner neat while capturing all the messy, beautiful details of daily life. . By tracking my activities throughout the day, I gain insight into where my time goes and keep myself accountable. Plus, it serves as a catch-all for those random ideas and bits of info that pop up. .
