It is one of the most verified and mind destroying facts in all of mathematics 🌌 Here is why. Every number you can name is finite. And infinity isn't just a very large number sitting at the end of a long line. Infinity isn't a vague concept or placeholder for really big. It is a rigorously defined feature of number systems and it comes in more than one size Under standard mathematics every finite number has a finite distance to zero while infinity is not a finite point at all and is treated as infinitely far from everything making any finite number closer to zero than to infinity ⚙️ Then Georg Cantor arrived and made it stranger. Cantor demonstrated that there exists a variety of infinities and some are simply larger than others. There are more real numbers packed between zero and one than there are numbers in the entire infinite range of natural numbers combined Cantor demonstrated there are infinitely many sizes of infinity each larger than the last. Not two sizes. Not ten. An infinite hierarchy of infinities each one making the previous look like zero ⚡ Think about all natural numbers 1, 2, 3 continuing forever. Now take any two of them like 3 and 4. Between just those two numbers alone exist infinitely many decimals like 3.5, 3.14159 and countless others with infinite decimal places.
