Will there come an age where we don’t feel like dancing at all anymore? 🤔 I wonder… 🙋‍♀️

1. I start getting ready earlier than I “need” to. The last thing I want is to feel rushed. For me, that means I start hair/makeup 2 hours before the show starts. 2. Do one familiar ritual every time. Same warm-up, same stretch sequence, same order of hair/makeup. Consistency tells my brain, we’ve done this before. 3. Ground through my feet. I literally drop my heels into the ground repeatedly to help signal to my body to stay grounded and “drop my weight”. As a modern dancer this is vital. 4. One simple intention. Not “be perfect.” Something like breathe, expand, or enjoy. One word is enough. 5. My mantra when I’m feeling nervous: Nothing to prove, only to share. I repeat that to myself over and over. Hope these help 🤍 #dancereel #professionaldancer #performancelife #preperformance #dancersofinstagram #moderndancer #preshow #preshowritual

1. Stopped chasing perfection. Clarity, intention, and groove read stronger than flawless execution. 2. Stopped dancing at 100% all the time Control, texture, and dynamics matter more than nonstop intensity. 3. Stopped imitating other dancers’ style. Studying technique is essential. Copying energy and identity isn’t. 4. Stopped relying on counts over music. Musicality separates professionals from trained movers. 5. Stopped ignoring my weaknesses. Training what felt uncomfortable created the biggest growth. 6. Stopped using the mirror as my main feedback Kinesthetic awareness > visual dependence. 7. Stopped blaming limitations. Every body has strengths — professionals learn how to use theirs. 8. Stopped dancing for validation. When I focused on honesty and connection, the work spoke for itself. #professionaldancer #dancerlife #dancerlifestyle #dancerhabits #danceindustry #dancersofinstagram #danceislife

Release the pressure of being perfect. Enjoy the process, allow yourself to make mistakes in classes, do your best, give your 150% and just have fun!! That’s how growth happens 🤍 Tag the other two dancers if you know them 😍 #professionaldancer #dance #ladanceclass

I didn’t book it young by accident… 1. Start training in precision style YOUNG Don’t wait until you’re 18 to figure it out. Take precision jazz and tap classes now! If you don’t have access to precision training near you, I offer virtual precision privates & coaching sessions. Link in my bio 🫶🏻 2. Learn to dance (and tap!) in heels I never tapped in heels until I was 14 & the transition was harder than I expected. It completely changes your weight placement, balance, and sound clarity. Don’t let that be a surprise at your first audition! 3. Remove your transitions in Rockette world, transitions are almost non-existent. The goal is to get from one position to the next as quickly and sharply as possible. Directors will be watching how fast you arrive, how cleanly you arrive and whether you hesitate between movements. Efficiency is everything! 4. Start training your brain to notice the small details Rockettes even know where their eyeballs are on every count. In any class, whether it’s ballet, jazz, or contemporary - start practicing matching the teacher exactly (arm pathways, timing, angles, dynamics, etc.) 5. Strength matters more than flexibility Rockettes are athletes. In order to dance as sharp as you need to in precision style you need to build muscle and strength. Start incorporating some crosstraining into your schedule if possible. 1. Knowing that 5, 6, 7, 8 means get ready you’re about to dance and never being able to unhear where the 5678 comes in every piece of music. 2. Owning an alarming number of random body-care items. Toe tape, massage balls, Epsom salts, resistance bands… your bag looks like a mini physical therapy clinic. 3. Being weirdly okay with pain.Bruises? Normal. Sore feet? Expected. Missing toenails? Casual conversation topic. 4. Stretching in public like it’s nothing. Hamstring stretch while waiting for coffee? Totally fine. 5. Getting emotionally attached to specific studio floors. “This floor has good energy.” 6. Packing 3 outfits “just in case”. Class, rehearsal, backup rehearsal, sweat level emergency… 7. Being totally fine changing in weird places. Bathrooms, hallways, behind curtains—modesty becomes flexible. 8. Hearing choreography corrections in your sleep. “Again from the top!” lives rent-free in your brain. #professionaldancer #dancerlife #dancerlifestyle #dancecareer #dancejob
