Quetzalcoatlus was one of the largest flying animals ever discovered. Living around 68–66 million years ago in what is now Texas, it had a wingspan of up to 12 meters. Despite its size, it could likely launch itself into the air using all four limbs. On land, it probably walked like a stork or giraffe and hunted small animals using its long, spear-like beak. Quetzalcoatlus wasn’t a dinosaur, but a giant flying reptile that ruled the skies at the very end of the Age of Dinosaurs. 🦅🦖 Credits to Simple History on Tiktok #quetzalcoatl #quetzalcoatlus #pterosaur #pterosaurs #prehistoric

#fyp #paleontoloji #dinozor #hayvan #pterosaur

Quetzalcoatlus was one of the largest flying animals ever, with a wingspan of around 10–11 meters (33–36 feet) and a body mass estimated at up to 250 kilograms. When standing on the ground, it would have been as tall as a giraffe. It lived during the Late Cretaceous, about 70–66 million years ago, in what is now North America, with most fossils found in Texas. These landscapes were wide floodplains rather than coastal areas. An interesting lesser-known fact is that Quetzalcoatlus likely spent much of its time walking on land instead of flying. Recent studies support the idea that it was an active terrestrial predator, stalking small animals across open plains rather than soaring like a seabird. I felt the wind before I saw it. Something massive flying overhead. Then it came down — a flying dinosaur, fast and precise. I ran without looking back until I found a treehouse hidden above. I climbed… Above: a hunter in the sky. Inside: temporary safety #FlyingDinosaur #Pterosaur #DinosaurWorld #JurassicVibes #CinematicScene

Quetzalcoatlus (Quetzalcoatlus northropi), around 70–66 million years ago in what is now North America, primarily in present-day Texas. While Quetzalcoatlus was a master of the skies, recent biomechanical studies have revealed it was equally formidable on the ground. Unlike modern birds, this azhdarchid pterosaur was a quadrupedal walker, folding its massive wings to use its “finger” joints as front feet. Its long limbs allowed for an efficient, stalking gait similar to a modern giraffe, enabling it to cover vast distances across the Cretaceous floodplains. This upright posture gave it a high vantage point to spot small dinosaurs and mammals, which it would snatch up with its spear-like beak in a behavior known as terrestrial stalking. Fast Facts Size: Standing height of 16 to 18 feet or 5 to 5.5 meters Weapon: Massive spear-like beak and powerful terrestrial stride Location: Javelina Formation Texas USA #Quetzalcoatlus #Pterosaur #Cretaceous #Paleontology #dinosaur Sources • Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology (2021/2024): “Morphology and Taxonomy of Quetzalcoatlus Lawson 1975 (Pterodactyloidea: Azhdarchidae).” • Witton, M.
