Snakes are equipped with a special organ, located on the roof of their mouth called the Jacobson’s organ.
Every time a snake flicks out their tongue, they’re grabbing different smells in the environment, pulling them back inside their mouths and plugging into that Jacobson’s organ, which then tells their brain what they’re smelling. It’s their way of navigating their environment. Pretty cool, right? 🐍
