MUI’ve always wanted a complete recording of Steve Whitmire’s Kermit singing Rainbow Connection. Unfortunately and shockingly, during his 27 years as Kermit, we never got a full recording of him singing Rainbow Connection. Closest we got was the 2011 movie. However he sings alongside Piggy, and eventually the rest of the Muppets. This project was only possible due to a great resource of audio files from the movie, which separated the music and each of the vocals. Also, another alternate version of the song had to be used to complete the verse he doesn’t sing. It sounds a little different because it’s a different vocal recording and even used a different instrumental track. I do want to note it’s not perfect, I’m not a professional sound mixer. But I did the best I could. It’s kinda Frankensteined together a little, but I think it still sounds really good. Also know that this is NOT at all Al, it is all actual official recordings. There are some parts that sound a little robotic, that’s not me, thats not Al, I’m pretty sure it’s auto tuning. Also don’t pay too much attention to the video, it makes it look like Piggy sounds like Kermit and that all the other Muppets are silent lol. It’s only meant to be a visual, the audio is the main focus. Hearing the completed version of Steve singing was something I had been wanting for a while. And I was finally able to make it happen.
