↓ 7 simple ways to reduce your screen time If you feel that your screen time is getting out of hand, you’re not alone. Numerous studies have shown that too much screen time can have adverse health effects, especially in children & younger people. Here’s 7 simple ways to reduce your screen time right now. 1- Track Your Screen Time: Start by gaining insights into your screen time habits. Use apps to monitor your daily activities. Identify the time spent on work, essential tasks & social media, 2- Opt for Single-Screen Focus Resist the temptation to juggle multiple screens simultaneously. Instead of scrolling through your phone while watching TV or working on your computer, prioritize a single-screen focus. 3 - Less Appealing Phones are powerful distractions, often triggering a dopamine response. Diminish the allure by switching your phone to grayscale, lowering brightness, or setting it to silent. 4 - Screen-Free Breaks Incorporate regular screen breaks into your workdays and longer breaks on days off. Set alarms every 30 minutes for work breaks, ensuring you step away from all screens. 5 - Old School Not every task requires a screen. Consider alternatives like phone calls instead of Zoom meetings and pen-and-paper notes over digital apps. 6 - Work Boundaries Define fixed working hours to prevent work from encroaching on personal time. Communicate these boundaries to colleagues and clients, turning off work-related notifications outside of work hours. 7 - Switch Off Before Bed Prioritize quality sleep by disconnecting from screens at least an hour before bedtime. Set alarms to signal the end of screen time and create device-free zones in your bedroom and bathroom. 10 things I would tell you about screen time for your kids- as a pediatrician 1. Screen time happens and that’s okay. You are not failing your child because you used a show to cook dinner, take a breath, or survive a hard day. 2. It’s not about perfection, it’s about patterns. Occasional extra screen time will not harm your child. What matters most is the overall balance of connection, play, sleep, movement, and love. 3. Screens can be a helpful at times. They can give parents a break, help kids calm down, teach new things, and even connect families. The goal is intentional use…… not zero use. 4. Your presence matters more than the screen. Talking, playing, reading, laughing, and being emotionally available are the strongest drivers of development and you don’t need to be perfect at them. 5. Not all screen time is equal. Slower-paced, age-appropriate, interactive content is very different from fast, overstimulating content. Quality matters more than just minutes. 6. Real life still needs room. Kids thrive when screens don’t replace sleep, movement, outdoor play, imagination, and human connection and most parents naturally create that balance over time. 7. Using screens to survive tough moments is normal. Long car rides, sick child, exhausted parent etc. sometimes screens help everyone reset. That does not make you a bad parent. 8. Sleep, mood, and behavior are your guide. If screens are clearly disrupting sleep, attention, or emotional regulation, that’s when gentle adjustments help not shaming parents 9. You are more powerful than any algorithm. Loving, responsive, engaged parenting outweighs the impact of screen time in the vast majority of children. 10. Your child doesn’t need a perfect parent just a present one. If your child feels safe, loved, talked to, and supported, you are already doing far more right than wrong.

If screen time feels like a daily battle, this might change the conversation. Most families are in the same boat. The nagging, the pushback, the sense that nothing really lands – we get it. This reframe cuts through because it doesn’t lecture. It speaks to teenagers in their own language: your time matters. Your attention is valuable. You get to decide what takes it. Not “phones are bad” – but what’s being taken, and why. Save this. Share it. Watch it together. (Check out the full Ted Talk by @dino_ambrosi on YouTube)

What’s your screen time? If it’s a lot… try this! Remember, the 10-10-10 rule is the most important, but also being aware of your screen time is most crucial. Exercising, going for daily walks, and being physically active will naturally keep you off from mindlessly browsing, or overworking. I really hope this helps! Now, I’m not an eye expert, but this is what I personally do for relief and prevention. If you have eye trouble, please consult your doc. ___________________ Start your journey to becoming a stronger and healthier YOU at justinagustin.com Enjoy full length beginner exercises with low impact modifications for all fitness levels. I was a phone addict for YEARS, until I did this simple 6 step process. Save this. If you do these 6 steps in order, your screen time drops without “willpower” 👇 ❌Delete the triggers (2 mins) Remove the 3 apps you open on autopilot. Not “later.” Now. (You can reinstall, your brain just needs the break.) 📱Add friction (30 secs) Turn on: grayscale + notifications OFF (except calls/text + calendar). Color+ pings are the addiction engine. 📲Move the phone (1 rule) Phone stays outside your bedroom and out of reach while working. If it’s within arm’s reach, you’ll touch it. 🔁Replace the hit (the swap list) Pick 3 tiny substitutes for the urge: water sip, 10 deep breaths, stand + stretch. 🪟Set 2 daily windows (freedom without relapse) Choose two scroll windows (ex: 12:30–12:45 + 8:30–8:50). Outside those windows = no feed apps. ⏰Track one number (make it a game) Write daily: Screen time + pickups. Try to beat yesterday by 5%. Small wins compound fast. If you want real non bs advice from a student whose gone from failing subjects to acing tests, let’s do this together! ✅ phoneaddiction #dopaminedetox #productivity #discipline #habits #selfimprovement #focus #studytips #fyp

If you are a scroller then this is for you Few tips that would help you to reduce phone usage - 1. Set App time Limit- Use screen time settings to restrict social media usage. 2. Turn Off Notifications 🔕 – Reduce distractions and regain focus 3. Use the 5-Minute Rule ⏰ – Delay picking up your phone for 5 minutes; the urge often passes. 4.Make It Inconvenient 📦 – Keep your phone in another room while studying. 5. Use Greyscale mode- less attractive phone would lead to less usage 6. Use hairband on the screen - it helps cause it blocks the view of the screen ! 7. Use screen usage apps that would block your phone for some time 8. Set fix hours where you will access the phone and other time would study or work I hope this helps . #study #studygram #studystudystudy #studyhard #studyharder #studywithme #student #planner #student #studentlife #studyplanner #studyroutine #studying #studytips #studyhacks #studyinspiration #studymotivation #studyaesthetic #student #struggle #studyroutine #studyschedule #studyvlog #studyblog #topper #studycommunity #studyaccount #reality #discipline #phoneaddiction #phoneaddict

Day 40 of my streak 🔥 The coolest part? You can add friends and see each other’s streaks! Add me on there!!! (code F1E61445) I was constantly feeling stuck in an endless scroll🚫 This one digital detox tip that changed how I use my phone: an app called Screen Zen. It makes you pause before opening social media. You can set how many times, how often, and even how long you wait. There’s even an option that makes you solve a math problem before it lets you in 😂 ✖️➗➕➖ I have mine pause for 30 sec. That tiny pause feels like the reset I didn’t know I needed. ⏳ . . #StopScrolling #DigitalDetox #ScreenTimeControl #ScreenZen #MindfulLiving #MindfulLivingUK #DigitalWellbeing #SundayReset
