ME04-08-2023 | The End of Chapter 3...
Last Friday, I was discharged from Spinal Rehab in Llandough and repatriated to St Woolos Hospital. Repatriation petrified me as I saw it as going backwards, but in actual fact, it's a step I must take to being closer to going home. As I don't have housing sorted just yet, I've had to come here whilst I wait for it.
Leaving Llandough is scary as it's me leaving a safe bubble where I've spent the last 9 months getting myself to a stage where I can confidently live an independent life again. Do I think I'm ready to have left...no...do I think I will ever feel ready no....am I ready to be back in my home town of Newport and closer to friends and family HELL YES!
It would have felt better leaving knowing I was going home to a fresh new 5 we are still waiting on accessible social housing. So, in the meantime, I will be living in St Woolos Hospital and getting on with my life outside of the hospital best I can.
I would like to thank all the lovely staff, healthcare workers, physios, OTs, especially my OT Amy, nutritionalist, independent living advisors , charity representatives, therapy dogs, housekeepers, and even the caterers for making my time in rehab, one to remember. I have made friends for life there who are in a similar boat to me and those bonds will never be broken as we've been through so much together. I won't go into naming names as I'll forget someone and cause upset but I have to give a special mention to my Rehab Bestie @p_victoria_t , you my girl are truly a beautiful human inside and out and I will miss you so much. I was so glad to have you join me in Llandough as it was nice to have some female company near enough my age, and it has been strange how similar we are! Keep smashing rehab and we will be in touch everyday 🩷 love you byeee ( Sholom Jackie)

EUWhen crisis strikes, the EU is there to assist its citizens. EU Member States, supported by the EEAS and EU Delegations in the Middle East, have repatriated thousands of EU citizens from the region, in true EU solidarity spirit.
EU Member States repatriation flights have brought home more than 25,000 EU citizens since the beginning of the crisis. These include 9,000 EU citizens, repatriated through the Union Civil Protection Mechanism, with more than 80 flights operated by EU MS and five fully EU-financed rescEU flights.

Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine operations aircrew alerted Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel, Sunday, at approximately 8:45 p.m., about 40 miles south of Key West.
"The Coast Guard and our partners patrol the Florida Straits, Windward and Mona Passages to stop illegal migration into the United States from the sea," said Lt. Cmdr. Mark Cobb, Coast Guard District Seven. "Those rescued or stopped will be brought back to their country of origin, or the country they departed."
Since Oct. 1, 2021, Coast Guard crews interdicted 3,994 Cubans compared to:

The Thiaroye Massacre was a massacre of French West African soldiers, committed by the French Army on the morning of 1 December 1944 near Dakar, French Senegal. Those killed were members of the Tirailleurs Sénégalais, and were veterans of the 1940 Battle of France who had been recently liberated from prison camps in Europe. After being repatriated to West Africa, they mutinied against poor conditions and unpaid wages at the Thiaroye military camp.
