Dog supervisor not necessary, but helpful 😉 If your plant is struggling, it could be a sign that it’s ready for a new pot. Things I look for are roots growing out the drainage hole/showing on top, drying out quickly, wilting or browning leaves, or slower growth than usual. Repotting your plant? 🚫 Don’t touch that new pot just yet. Here’s what I ALWAYS do before repotting (learned this the hard way 😅👇) 💧 1. Water your plant a day before Slightly moist soil makes it way easier to slide the plant out without stressing or snapping roots. Dry soil = root breakage. 🐛 2. Check for pests Last thing you want is upgrading your plant… and its pest colony. Inspect leaves (especially undersides) and the soil surface. 🌱 3. Loosen the roots gently If it’s rootbound, lightly tease the roots so they grow outward into the new mix instead of circling again. 🪴 4. Don’t size up too much Only go 1–2 inches bigger. Oversized pots hold too much moisture and can lead to root rot (yes, even if you “don’t overwater”). ✨ Bonus Tip: Wait at least a week before fertilizing after repotting. Fresh soil already has nutrients — fertilizing too soon can stress newly disturbed roots. Repotting done right = faster recovery + stronger growth 💚 Save this for your next repot 🪴 ✅ Follow @plants.hacks.n.beyond for practical plant care tips that actually work 🌿 #houseplantcare #plantcaretips #repottingplants #indoorplants #plantparents

When you repot, roots get disturbed. The plant goes into adjustment mode—less growth, more survival. Transplant shock isn’t your plant being ungrateful or dramatic. It’s adjusting. Disturbed roots = temporary stress. No growth ≠ failure. Give it consistency, not panic care. 🌿 #planttips #transplantshock #plantlover

Does root trimming stress you out? No need, makes ways for healthy growth to continue! You only need to trim the foliage a little, I wanted to do a larger prune back on mine so I went in more drastically! Then trim up to 1/3rd of the root ball, add fresh soil & water it down! Repotting can often feel like flying blind — even for experienced plant lovers like us. I remember when I was first learning to care for plants, what it was like repotting in my kitchen, watching videos from plant influencers like an instruction manual—all while feeling like I was still killing my beloved plant. And I did kill quite a few of them repotting 😂 The best way to learn is through doing, which can be scary! But there are plenty of tricks that help you feel more confident that your plant will make it through the transition. 1. Use good soil. This is a MUST. A well draining soil mix, made for houseplants, will save you so much heartache. It makes watering easier, helps the plant get all the nutrients and oxygen it needs, and leads to less problems down the line. I can’t tell you how many plants I lost to dirt I had for my garden beds. You can mix your own (more on that in another post) or buy one from your local nursery. We sell our own mix that I swear keeps my plants alive through anything. 2. Add rooting hormone while transplanting. Adding a few drops of a rooting hormone can help prevent transplant shock. Since we started implementing this in our shop, our success rate has gone from 85% to 99%! We use Prop Drops. 3. Pot size matters! My rule of thumb is to use about a 2-4” pot bigger than the root ball itself. This can vary based on the type of plant, but it’s a good general rule. Anything that likes to completely dry out, probably likes a tighter pot. Snake plants, ZZ plants, pothos, spider plants, all like to be root bound. 4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whether you repot at home or come into the shop, we are always here to help you when you just aren’t sure. DM us questions! We’ll happily give our advice. Really nervous about a repot? Come in & we’ll plant it for you! We only charge for the soil used. Bring your own pots if you’d like, or we’ll help you find a nursery pot that fits just right in the shop. Repots available all day Saturday & Sunday, or by appointment during the week. Happy planting! … #repottingplants #repotting #howtorepot #plantcaretips #blindfoldchallenge

Here’s how to fix it 👇🏽 The grey mushy stuff is either mould or fungus that has come from the roots remaining too wet for too long. Wash off the roots and use a soft toothbrush or straw cleaning brush to get all the soil off. Then inspect carefully. Any mushy or smelly or rotten looking roots you need to cut off. When you’re back to healthy roots only, repot in a free draining mix of potting mix and perlite and maybe throw in some orchid bark of your feeling it. Make sure your new pot has adequate drainage and is no bigger than about an inch wider in diameter than the plant root ball. Be sure to let the plant dry out between waterings until the top 3cm of soil is dry and never let it sit in a saucer of water. If you want more solid, beginner friendly plant care advice comment PLANT and I’ll send you the link to my plant care guide. And remember- you’re not bad at plants, you just need a little guidance. Peace out plant People ✌🏾🤍 you’ve got this. #houseplant101 #plantlovers #plantparenthood #indoorplants #plantlife
