Miss Crow Nation is a representative position for the annual Crow Fair celebration held on the Crow Reservation in Southeastern Montana.
This event wasn’t always a powwow. It was established by the government to showcase “Crow Indian’s Crops”, but over the past 100 years the Apsaalooké people created it into a celebration of our culture and a way to share it with others.
Crow Fair’s nickname is the Teepee Capital of the World for every year 1,200 teepees are set up each year by tribal members for this weekend alone. Every morning an hour and a half parades showcases the beadwork and regalia of each family. Various activities happen throughout the day from ultimate warrior races to rodeo events. The powwow itself begins in the afternoon and carries into the early morning hours.
As Miss Crow Nation it has been my job to travel and attend different events in state and out of state inviting all to celebrate with us our culture and traditions as Apsaalooké people.
