Sharing my tips on intensive planting with you today… Only 5 things to consider when it comes to intensive planting: 1. Soil Health Compost, worm castings, cover crops are your friend. 2. Size of Plant Large/ tall plants in the middle, medium sized plants next to them and short plants on the edges or borders. Use trellises for tall, vining crops to grow vertically, like peas, cucumbers, tomatoes and pole beans, and free up space below to grow more food. 3. Sunlight Requirement Short, shade loving crops like lettuce, cilantro, arugula can be grown in the canopy of large plants like cabbages, broccoli and tomatoes. 4. Companion Planting Grow lots of herbs and flowers for natural pest control and to attract pollinators and beneficial insects like ladybugs and lacewings. I love marigolds, calendula, basil, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, oregano, bunching onions and leeks to deter pests. 5. Succession Planting Especially important for quick maturing crops like lettuce, cilantro, arugula and radishes - gives you a continuous supply of food while preventing bare soil and empty patches in the garden. *The only exception I make to planting large crops in the middle is zucchini or squash - they can grow massive - so plant them in the corners of your raised beds. Hope you’ll incorporate these strategies to grow a garden that’s beautiful, packed & thriving! 🙌 #gardeningtips #intensiveplanting #growfood #vegetablegarden #reshgala #gardening #companionplanting #successionplanting #kitchengarden #learntogrow

Want to grow a ton of peas in your garden? Then follow these tips to get an insane harvest: 👇 🫛 1. Soak peas in water for 48 hours prior to planting. This plumps up the seeds, softening the hard outer shell and makes them prime for speedy germination. 🫛 2. Follow the Rule of Twos - sow seeds in 2 rows, space peas 2” apart and space the rows 2” apart as well. This is exactly what helps me grow a Great Wall of Peas each year! 🫛 3. Always grow peas against a trellis. 🫛 4. No fertilizing peas please! Only water will do. 🫛 5. Harvest often. The more you pick, the more will grow. Peas are one of the first crops I plant in my garden as soon as the ground has thawed and soil is soft and workable (early March for me in Zone 7a). They grow best in the cooler months weather of spring and fall. Save this video for reference and please tag me if you plant peas next year using my Rule of Two method and let me know how it turns out (I know you’ll be thrilled with the results)! #peas #gardeningtips #springgarden #growyourownfood #reshgala

I used to spend hours in my garden battling pests like aphids, whiteflies and cabbage worms that would wreak havoc on my plants! Reposted from @reshgala The frustration and overwhelm made me almost want to give up on growing my own food. But then I learnt about how the powerful SCENT and FLAVORS of herbs could repel many insects and pests in the garden. I started planting lots and lots of herbs around the borders and corners of my raised beds not only for harvesting but as a method of NATURAL PEST CONTROL. Let herbs like oregano, sage, chives, parsley, basil, thyme, rosemary and spring onions do the hard work for you! This is what is called real COMPANION PLANTING! Save this phenomenal list and plant these herbs in your vegetable garden this year! Happy gardening! This is what happens when you grow with the seasons - plant don’t just survive, they thrive! I planted veggies that could handle a frost and even a light snow, and packed in the plants so closely that they could keep each other warm and cozy. I’m in New Jersey, zone 7a and love to push the limits of growing maximum food no matter the space or weather. Hope you’ll follow along for garden inspiration and tips. How to make ROSEMARY OIL to help reduce hair fall and encourage hair growth and strength:👇 You will need: - 1 cup of coconut oil (warm it to melt it) - 3/4 cup rosemary leaves How to Proceed: - Create a double boiler by adding some water into a pot and placing a bowl on top. - Add coconut oil and rosemary leaves. - Heat on low flame for 20 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. - You will notice oil changing color from clear to green. - Carefully transfer the oil into a wide-mouthed glass jar by passing through a sieve. Coconut oil tends to solidify, so simply scoop out as much as you need, warm it to melt it and massage the warm oil into your scalp. Leave on your hair for at least 30 to 60 minutes, overnight too if you wish (just be sure to place a towel on top of your pillowcase to prevent it from staining). Wash and style your hair as usual. Let me know if you decide to make this oil and how you like it. #hairoil #hairgrowth #rosemary #rosemaryoil #hairfall #herbalremedy #homemade #diy #gardening #reshgala #herb #hairoilsforgrowth

Rosemary is considered one of the most powerful ancient herbs. It was commonly used by ancient Egyptians and Greeks for protection and remembrance because its fragrance would ward off many pests and its smell was unforgettable. According to Feng Shui, it is ideal to grow rosemary by the entrance or front door to attract positive energy, wealth and opportunities into your home and to ward off negative chi. I love growing rosemary by my front door because it repels deer and grows well in partial shade. Rosemary also has incredible medicinal and culinary properties too, so what’s not to love? Hope you’re growing this wonderful herb too! 🪴 #rosemary #herb #herbgarden #kitchengarden #fengshui #gardening #positivity #reshgala #njgardener

Over the last few months, I’ve poured in my heart and soul into transforming my sloped, grassy backyard to a vegetable garden that dreams are made of. ✨ Although I missed out on summer planting season this year, I was determined to grow all the lush green fall crops in my raised beds. I planted this garden in my signature style (mixing different varieties of crops, herbs & flowers together) and even snuck in a few zucchini, zinnia and cosmo seedlings too (I grew them under grow-lights indoors in July). This garden was planted on August 8th (just 3 weeks ago) and the growth has been majestic! With the rising moon in the background this evening, and the pink glow of sunset, I couldn’t resist capturing a few photos. Hope you’ll save and share this post for your garden inspiration. If you’re in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania or New York area, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me - my company @hundredtomatoes designs & installed bespoke raised bed organic gardens and we’d love to create some garden magic for you too! Next time you want perfectly straight rows for planting seeds or seedlings, try using a stick or a stake to make shallow furrows in the soil. Simply press the stick down on the soil and you’ll have created straight lines for planting. I direct sowed cilantro & carrot seeds this way and am so happy with the results. You can use this trick to direct sow radishes, arugula, parsley and lettuce too! Please save and share it if you found it helpful and follow along for more simple gardening tips and inspiration. #gardeninghack #vegetablegarden #gardeningtips #growyourownfood #reshgala #beginnergardener #kitchengarden #fallgarden #fromseed #learntogrow
