They call it “daddy issues,” but for me, it’s the complete opposite. I was raised by a father who set the standard so high that I can’t accept anything less than respect, effort, and consistency. If a man can’t show up the way my dad always did, then I already know he’s not for me. That’s not entitlement—it’s knowing my worth.
My dad showed me what love looks like in action. He picked up the phone no matter the time, never let me reach for the bill, and carried responsibility without ever needing to raise his voice. His leadership allowed me to feel safe enough to simply be his daughter, not someone who had to fight for attention or care. That’s the kind of foundation that shapes standards.
So no, I don’t have “daddy issues.” I have reverse daddy issues. And if you think I’ll ever settle for less than the example I grew up with, think again. My dad set the bar, and that’s exactly what I honor today.
