CHTook third place in the (for fun, end of training) long range competition. Used my 12.5 6 arc with a Steiner T6Xi 2.5-15.
Course of fire was to engage two targets at each distance of 200, 300, 400 and 500 yards. Add 3 seconds to your time for each miss.
If I were to do it again I would start at 500 yards and worked my way in, instead of starting at 200 and going out. I finished with a 1:16 time with 3 misses. First place finished with a time of 44 seconds and no misses.
Overall happy with my performance today since I don’t get to shoot past 200 yards except for 1-2 times a year. Highlight of the day was getting hits at 500 yards with my suppressed 11.5 and Elcan.

PDHere’s a smooth run from the Leupold Steel Classic, shooting off the pipes and a tank trap. After my first miss, I corrected my wind hold and carried that adjustment through the rest of the stage. With the wind switching often, I focused on taking my time, watching impacts, and confirming where I was hitting on the plate.
I also made sure to take my time with bag placement on the tank trap to avoid unstable positions, and that paid off through most of the stage. On the final shot, though, I got a little too comfortable and sent one I wasn’t fully confident in.
It’s a good reminder of how important it is to stay smooth and steady all the way through, especially on the last shot. I could’ve taken a couple more seconds and finished with a clean hit, but turned a 9/10 into an 8/10.
Overall, a solid stage, but staying fully dialed in until after the final shot is crucial.

We got a lot of work done to the long range this past week and just in time for this weekend's sold out class.
We scheduled a class in Columbus /Ft. Benning at AGI on March28/29th. That facility is going to make for a great course. And we opened another class at our place of May 16/17th.
