Here’s the trick:
Start by keeping the INPUT button (the yellow one) turned off so the RMX-1000 effects only affect the RMX pad and not the master or the tracks.
Then select the Snare sound inside the pad and apply Spiral Up. Set the knob so it sends just a tiny amount of signal, barely enough to trigger the effect. Keep Sub-parameters 1 and 2 fully to the left so both parameters stay at their minimum positions.
From here, I start playing the RMX pad while feeding that minimal signal into Spiral Up. This slowly charges the spiral effect. Once it starts building, I begin moving the big effect knob together with Parameter 1, shaping the rise while also riding the pitch up and down on the RMX.
Next, I record a sequence using the Overdub function on the pad. Once the sequence is looping, I have full control over Parameter 1 and Parameter 2 of Spiral Up. When the effect is peaking, I set all knobs around the 12 o’clock position to stabilize the texture.
At the same time, with my other hand, I’m using the RMX to build energy — pushing the pitch up and performing the build-up manually. At the very end of the effect, I cut the overdub, lower the pad volume, and mute Spiral Up without touching the parameters. Leaving them at 12 o’clock keeps a smooth tail running so the transition blends naturally with the groove.
