The ROXZONE……. What is it? 👇🏻 It’s just a made up word! It’s the big old area where all the stations are and the time here still counts towards your overall race time! Should I walk it and recover? 👇🏻 NO! This Is a real opportunity to gain time in your race. At worst jog it, you may be tempted to walk but get to the next station or run ASAP. My top tips for the ROXZONE 1️⃣ Know the layout! Make sure you do a walk around prior to your race. Make sure you know the entrance and exit points 2️⃣ minimise Breaks. Treat this like a run. You wouldn’t walk on the run so don’t walk here 3️⃣ If you do need to stop for a drink or rest keep walking at least to maintain movement 4️⃣ I always run the RZ at my run pace this will ensure you don’t lose crucial seconds All of the above will help you make a huge difference to your overall time #roxzone #hyroxroxzonedeepdive #hyroxuk #hyroxhack #hyroxtips #hyroxworld #hyroxcommunity #hyroxathlete #hyroxrace #functionalmovement

It’s very important because it can actually be a big factor in why you may not be getting the time you desire at a Hyrox race. My Tip for the Roxzone is to simply RUN in it don’t walk. Get your HYROX splits on your Garmin! Here’s exactly how to set it up. In this video I walk you through a simple setup on the Garmin Forerunner 970 so your watch captures a clean split for every run and every station on race day. No complicated settings, no fumbling mid-race! Note: Steps shown are on the Garmin Forerunner 970, navigation may vary slightly across different Garmin models. On recording your Rox Zone splits: You can get even more detailed by pressing Lap every time you enter the Rox Zone, and again when you start your station, and again when you finish. Technically it works but that’s a lot of tapping mid-race and adds unnecessary complexity when you’re already pushing hard! My take is to keep it simple. Press Lap when you enter the Rox Zone, and press Lap again when you exit. That’s it. Clean splits, minimal effort, and one less thing to think about on race day. Hope this helps your next HYROX! Try this drill: Every 5 min • 500m run • 20m lunges Finish the work, then recover with whatever time remains before the next round. After racing HYROX multiple times and chasing faster finishes each season, I can tell you this: Most athletes don’t slow down because they lack fitness. They slow down because execution falls apart under fatigue. Here are 5 areas where I’ve personally made the biggest gains and where I see athletes lose the most time and how to clean them up: ———————— 1️⃣ Sandbag Lunges ❌ Overstriding → HR spikes, breathing falls apart ✅ Short, consistent steps + controlled breathing every rep 2️⃣ Sled Pull ❌ Staying upright, yanking the rope ✅ Lean back, use bodyweight, maintain constant tension 3️⃣ Burpee Broad Jumps ❌ Random pacing, jumping too far ✅ Repeatable rhythm + consistent jump distance 4️⃣ Wall Balls ❌ Chasing “unbroken” when it’s unrealistic ✅ Efficient depth + pre-planned sets you can hold tired 5️⃣ Running + Roxzones ❌ Sprinting off stations, walking transitions ✅ Control the first 50–100m + treat transitions like part of the race This is how I’ve shaved minutes off my HYROX times, piece by piece. It feels soooo good to just take a break from the pain and recover with a walk. But the negative effect a short walk will have on the rest of your race will be huge. There are gonna be many times you don't want to run again and take a stroll instead... - As soon as you go under the IN arch. - when you enter a station arch. - between finishing a station and leaving it. - anytime in the ROX zone. - points of fatigue during runs. (Not including times of injury of course) But if you walk just ONCE you'll very likely succumb to walking again and again. Adding potentially minutes onto your finish time. I get it. It's HARD to break back into a run when your legs are like lead. Or your lungs are on fire. And that short walk feels like heaven. But it'll cost you down the line. A moment of mental weakness could be all it takes. If only I could've just kept running id have had that PB. That podium place. Feel that pride of never stopping or giving in to the easier choice. If you need to walk it's likely you've gone out at the wrong pace (too fast) Or overcooked a station as you didn't apply a pacing strategy. Or got caught up in the moment and tried to compete with someone much fitter. You might agree with me on this or not. That's cool. But I have my own personal standards and values. I walked the rox zone in one of my earlier races and vowed never to do that again. Now I try to keep my race run pace up from in gate to the start of the actual station (not the arch or the mat but the equipment). This is aimed at people who are not just looking to complete a HYROX but who are looking to break PBs, improve their rankings and level up their mindset discipline. Let me know... But this race taught us a lot: • communication and a clear rep split before the start • eye contact every few reps to switch on time • zero distractions in the Roxzone if you want a fast time We used St. Gallen as a hard training day on the road to HYROX Torino Pro, and I’m genuinely proud of how much Marco pushed through his limits. POV: il tuo teammate flirta con la judge mentre tu stai letteralmente morendo alle wall ball HYROX PRO Doubles, St. Gallen: ultima stazione, gambe in - fiamme, fiato al limite e io che devo pure urlargli “OH, SVEGLIA!” per riportarlo sulla gara.
