XAKashmir sapphire or Burmese ruby? If I could only choose one for the rest of my life, I’d choose Kashmir sapphire. Here’s why.
Both are at the same level of rarity and attractiveness. There’s no wrong choice between these two stones. Especially if you buy a very nice one.
But Kashmir sapphires are even more rare. And in very high demand at the moment.
Especially in the next auctions, you’ll see some beautiful and extremely rare Kashmir sapphires. They’re very trendy right now.
So I’d choose Kashmir sapphire. But only if the stone is perfect.
What does perfect mean?
The right size. 10 carats plus.
The right color. Royal blue. Not too dark. A little bit velvety, but not too much. Velvety means silky, from fine inclusions, but not so much that it dulls the stone.
Nicely cut. Ideally an old mine cut. That would be wonderful because this style has a lot of charm.
Clean. High clarity.
And here’s the critical part: three certifications. All of them saying it’s royal blue with a special appendix.
Why three certifications?
Because some labs are very difficult when it comes to giving the royal blue designation. The range is very narrow. And there are three major labs that are very demanding to give this specific royal blue color.
If all three agree? That stone is unquestionable.
I have a stone in mind when I describe this. Because I know stones like this exist. But they’re extremely rare. Difficult to find. And extremely valuable.
That’s the kind of Kashmir sapphire I’d choose. Not just any Kashmir. The perfect one. Because when a stone meets all those criteria, size, color, cut, clarity, triple certification, it’s not just rare. It’s generational.
And that’s the stone I’d bet on for the rest of my life.
