MY 4 BIGGEST TIPS TO ANY BEGINNER RUNNER ‼️ 1️⃣ Do walk-run intervals: this is such a great way to get your body used to running. You can increase the time spent running vs walking as you get more comfortable with running. 2️⃣ Slow down — seriously. These are the ones where I monitor my heart rate over my pace. Have you ever heard the term you have to run slow to run fast? This is key to keeping your heart rate low on runs, I promise - it’ll be hard at first to slow down but it will make a huge difference. 3️⃣ Invest in good running shoes 👟 — when I was training for my first marathon I almost caused an injury due to buying a pair of running shoes simply because they looked cool. I highly recommend going into your local running store and getting tested to see what shoe would work best for you based on how your foot strikes the ground. Your shoes are the only think between you and pounding the pavement, it’s worth it to invest in at least one good pair of shoes. 4️⃣ Don’t compare yourself to other runners - this is a big one. Everyone is on a different running journey and timeline. If you are running, you are a runner. There is no such thing as a slow half or full marathon. Trust the process because running isn’t easy but is a pretty special sport. There are so many more tips, but these are my top 4. ⚡️What’s your best advice you’d give to a beginner runner?! Running is up to 2-3x** your bodyweight. It has to go somewhere. ✅ Bent knee ✅ Midfoot strike ✅ Foot towards your centre of mass ✅ Cycle, don’t reach That’s how you tap into your elastic chain. Less ground contact time. More bounce. Less pain. ✅ RUNNING TIPS ❌ SAVE and work on it 👍 If you want a good RUNNING ECONOMY, UPPER BODY movements need to be efficient! ❌ Don’t rotate your shoulders and torso too much ✅ Torso has to be strong and shoulders perpendicular to it. Arms swing is close to the hip (hands should almost touch your hips). This is one of my weakness too, especially when I am tired, my shoulders tend to rotate. With shoulders/arms muscles strengthen and core workout, this improves a lot 💪 Use elastic bands to simulate running arms swing movement! ——— ⚠️ TECNICA DI CORSA 👍 Per avere una corsa economica, i movimenti del tronco devono essere efficienti! ❌ Non ruotate troppo le spalle e il tronco ✅ Il tronco deve essere forte e le spalle perpendicolari al busto. L’oscillazione delle braccia avviene vicino ai fianchi (le mani sfiorano il bacino). Questo è uno dei miei punti deboli, specialmente quando sono stanca, le spalle tendono a ruotare.
