It may not be a perfect permanent solution, but it’s a 1st step to permanent housing.

SOOver 100 people were displaced due to structural issues at a condominium complex in Santa Clara, the city said on Sunday.
On Saturday, authorities report the Santa Clara Fire Department received reports of “displaced concrete” at Villa Bella, located at 1850 El Camino Real, at around 6:45 p.m.
Officials report approximately 60 people were evacuated from the building for safety, and 10 homes on Clay Street were asked to evacuate because they were in a potential collapse zone.
The city opened its Community Recreation Center as a shelter for displaced residents, but majority of them decided to make their own arraignments, according to officials.
Authorities said after assessing the building, it was determined the building was in no danger of imminent collapse, lifting the collapse zone perimeter and allowing residents on Clay Street to go back to their homes.
However, the city said it was determined that shoring on the north side of the building appeared to be needed before the building could be occupied. The city got in touch with the developed responsible for the construction and repairs needed, but officials said this resulted in the displacement of 130 residents.
The city added it is working with the American Red Cross to assist the displaced residents and find an alternative shelter location. They also urge residents to contact their insurance companies for additional assistance.

City leaders recently gathered to mark the groundbreaking of a new safe camping site in the River District. The site will provide space for more than 100 people experiencing homelessness and will include security, restrooms, garbage collection, case management, and access to supportive services.
