The song describes a fashionable, high-flying con man who travels the world breaking hearts and using women for money. The lyrics mention cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and Key Largo to illustrate his jet-setting lifestyle. The song is famous for its spoken-word introduction, though many radio versions edited this out to get straight to the music. There are actually two different studio recordings of the song.
