Should U.S. Presidents have a role in college sports? It’s a question that sparks debate in sports, politics, and education circles. In this video, we examine whether it’s appropriate for the nation’s leader to influence decisions in college athletics, from rules and regulations to funding and governance. We’ll break down historical examples where presidents have commented on or tried to impact college sports, including interventions in major controversies or bowl selections. While some argue that presidential input can bring attention to fairness and student-athlete welfare, others see it as overreach into an area that should remain independent from politics. This video also explores the pros and cons of presidential involvement. On one hand, a president could push for reforms, promote equality, or help resolve conflicts in high-profile programs. On the other, interference could undermine institutional autonomy, spark political backlash, or set dangerous precedents for government influence in sports. We’ll also discuss current college athletics challenges—NIL rights, conference realignment, playoff controversies, and NCAA regulations—and how much, if at all, a president should step in. Should presidents act as mediators, cheerleaders, or leave decisions entirely to athletic organizations? Something important happened in Washington last week that every recruiting family should be paying attention to. President Trump hosted a roundtable with NCAA leadership, conference commissioners, athletic directors, media executives, and members of Congress to discuss the future of college sports and NIL. Why does that matter to you? Because when the structure of college athletics changes, the recruiting process changes with it. NIL rules The transfer portal Revenue sharing Roster limits Designated student-athletes Now federal politics may play a role too. Most families are trying to figure all of this out while their son or daughter is still playing high school sports. The truth is recruiting success today is not just about talent. It is about understanding the system. This clip is from a longer breakdown where I explain: • What happened at the White House • What the SCORE Act is • Why Congress may get involved in college sports • What this could mean for recruiting families The full video is now on YouTube. Watch the complete breakdown at the link in my bio. If your family is navigating the recruiting process, this is something you should understand.

Something important just happened in college sports. Leaders from across college athletics recently met at the White House to discuss the future of NIL, the transfer portal, and the structure of college sports. Many people believe the meeting was designed to build momentum for something called the SCORE Act, a bill being discussed in Congress that could create national rules for college athletics. Why should families care? Because for decades the NCAA controlled college sports internally. If Congress steps in, the rules governing: • NIL deals • Transfer movement • Athlete compensation • Recruiting structures could start coming from Washington instead of the NCAA. And when the rules change… Recruiting changes. The biggest impact would likely be felt at the Division I level, especially in football and men’s basketball where NIL money has exploded. Some athletes are now earning high six-figure or even seven-figure NIL deals. But athletic departments are also facing rising costs and roster challenges. If new federal rules tighten NIL regulations, recruiting conversations could start to look very different. Instead of loosely structured NIL opportunities, schools may move toward: • revenue sharing models • scholarship adjustments • approved NIL partnerships Money may still exist in the system. But how that money flows could change dramatically. And when the structure of athlete compensation changes, recruiting strategies change with it. Families who understand the system will always have an advantage. ⬇️ If you want help navigating the recruiting process, download my free resource: The College Recruiting Jumpstart Pack It walks families through the first steps of building a smart recruiting plan.
