⚠️ Parent Alert! Is your child outsmarting Apple’s Screen Time limits? 📱🚫 Here are 3 ways* kids are getting around them: 1. Using a Web Browser & Incognito Mode ➡️Even if time limits are set on an app such as YouTube or Instagram, kids can bypass via a web browser (i.e. youtube.com or instagram.com). And while parents can also set limits on websites, incognito mode allows kids to slip under the radar. ✔️ Prevent this by only allowing a select list of websites (AKA a whitelist) as part of Apple’s Screen Time 2. Deleting and Re-installing Apps ➡️If an app is deleted and re-installed, all Screen Time restrictions are removed and have to be reset. ✔️ Prevent through Apple’s Screen Time by disabling the app store (installs, downloads, in-app purchases) 3. Changing the Time Zone ➡️Kids will change the time zone settings on their phones to evade “downtime” set through Screen Time controls. ✔️ To prevent: Disable “Setting Time Zone” through Apple’s Screen Time Other solutions: ✔️ Consider third party monitoring apps and parental controls such as @barktechnologies or @mmguardian ✔️ Opt for a safer smartphone such as ones from @troomiwireless, @gabbwireless, @thepinwheelphone and @barktechnologies ✔️ Talk, talk, talk— have open conversations about the digital spaces your kids are visiting online What other loopholes have you discovered for Apple’s Screen Time? Share this reel to help alert other parents! ⚠️ Remember, filters and parental controls are NOT foolproof. This is why we say the safest filter is an internal one- an inner motivation and disposition to protect one’s brain from digital dangers. *These types of hacks and workaround tips are shared by kids ALL over TikTok and other social media sites. #defendyoungminds #parenting #parenthood #parents #parentingtips #protectyoungminds #pornproofkids #goodpicturesbadpictures #socialmedia #technology #screentime #bodysafety #digitialcleanup #internetsafety #digitalsafety #parentalcontrols #applescreentime #applefamilysharing #screentimelimits

How much screen time is okay for children? Well, it's the wrong question to be asking! 'Screen time' could be anything from mindlessly scrolling social media, to researching topics for school! But from the outside it looks exactly the same. So next time you catch yourself about to tell them to "Get off the phone!" Maybe take an interest in what they're actually doing first. My new book "Tech Smart Parenting" is out now! Comment 'Book' below or use the link on my page. #parenting #screentime #onlinesafety #childtherapist #childpsychology

No more tapping ignore on your phone screen time limit, time to Brick your phone 📲 So one of the most pointless iPhone features is the “Screen Time Limit”. Everyone just taps “Ignore” and it doesn’t really help you limit screen time. But let me introduce you to @getbrick, a cool new product that helps you limit distractions. It’s basically a jail cell for your phone, and here’s how it works 👇 1. When you get the brick you tell it what apps you WANT access to. 2. Then tell it what apps you want LOCKED. 3. Now tap your phone to the Brick, and those apps are locked. 4. And to get access back to those apps, you have to tap your phone to the Brick again. But how is this different from the iPhone feature I mentioned at the beginning? Well, it’s a stand-alone piece of equipment. So let’s say you’re going to work and don’t want access to social media apps. Tap your phone to the Brick at home, drive to work, leave the Brick at home, and then you will not be able to get into those apps until you’re home and can tap your phone to the Brick again. I think this is an awesome product for today’s world and the tech distractions we have. So Brick, well done 🤝 #brick #techproducts #wellnessproducts #healthproducts #productreview #productmarketing #screentime #healthtech #fitnesstech

If screen time feels like a daily battle, this might change the conversation. Most families are in the same boat. The nagging, the pushback, the sense that nothing really lands – we get it. This reframe cuts through because it doesn’t lecture. It speaks to teenagers in their own language: your time matters. Your attention is valuable. You get to decide what takes it. Not “phones are bad” – but what’s being taken, and why. Save this. Share it. Watch it together. (Check out the full Ted Talk by @dino_ambrosi on YouTube)

We never thought we’d be able to go no screens but we have survived over 30 days screen free and here’s what we’ve learned so far 💙🙏 If you want the full debrief on our why, how and what we’ve learned since going screen free comment “NO SCREENS” and we’ll DM you everything! Secondly, if you had told me screens were a problem for our children a year ago I would have scoffed. However, since going I really do believe the changes are profound and so dramatic that I encourage any parent to at least do your own research, reflect on your own use of screens and just consider trying it. Again, I never, ever envisioned being a “no screen” proponent but I think the amazing thing about life and parenting is we have this ability to continually learn, adapt and change if we are willing. For us, and most importantly our boys, this has been one the best experiments ever and we’re excited to see where it takes us and if you’re nervous just know, if we can survive doing it, YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT TOO!! P.S. Comment “NO SCREENS” for a full breakdown of our experience and why we did this! #parenting #noscreens #screenfree #screenfreekids #twinmom #twindad #boymom #parentinglife

🧠 What screen time does to your child’s brain vs. what books do 📚 When kids spend too much time on screens, it affects their brain development in ways we often overlook. The blue light blocks melatonin (the sleep hormone), making it harder for their brains to rest. Constant scrolling releases excess dopamine, the pleasure chemical—creating addiction similar to sugar or junk food. Over time, too much screen exposure weakens focus, hurts memory, and slows learning. But when you replace screen time with books, playtime, and real learning, magic happens✨ 📘 Reading builds vocabulary and language skills 🧩 Improves focus, concentration, and patience 💛 Encourages empathy and emotional intelligence 💪 Strengthens memory and problem-solving skills Let’s raise readers, not scrollers. 🌱 #mindfulparenting #digitaldetoxforkids #ScreenFreeChildhood #ParentingAwareness #NoScreenTime #ConsciousParenting #EarlyChildDevelopment #KidsBrainHealth #ReadMoreScreensLess #ParentingTips #GentleParenting #BooksOverScreens #PositiveParenting #HealthyChildhood #BrainDevelopment #ModernParenting #SmartParenting #ReadingHabit #ParentingReels #childgrowth

This isn't about screens being evil. It's about what constant stimulation does to a developing nervous system. When the brain never rests, behavior starts speaking for it. Most parents miss this because the signs look like attitude, laziness, or defiance. In reality, it's overload. A dysregulated brain can't self soothe, focus, or listen no matter how much you explain. Here's what actually shows up when screens quietly cross the line. 1. Explosive reactions over small things, frustration tolerance is gone. 2. Difficulty focusing on anything that isn't fast or stimulating. 3. Irritability or anger when screens are removed, withdrawal response. 4. Loss of interest in toys, books, or outdoor play. 5. Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, overstimulated nervous system. 6. Constant boredom unless a screen is present. 7. Emotional numbness or flat affect off screen. 8. Resistance to routine or simple instructions. 9. Increased anxiety when nothing is happening. 10. Needing screens to calm down instead of self regulation. This doesn't mean you failed as a parent. It means your child's brain needs less input and more real world regulation. When stimulation drops, calm returns. Slowly. Naturally.
