SLWhat a difference a door makes!
It’s hard to believe it’s the same lower ground floor. These bespoke, floor-to-ceiling Crittall-style beauties completely transformed the energy of this home by replacing the standard white doors and dated transom windows. By removing the original window lights but keeping the original door linings, we were able to create a seamless, full-height architectural statement that feels like it was always meant to be there.
The doors allow light to flow effortlessly between the hallway and living spaces, ensuring the lower ground floor feels airy and open rather than enclosed. For the Garden Room, frosted glass was used as this space is multifunctional and often doubles as a guest bedroom, the frosting provides the necessary privacy for guests while still letting light to flood through.
The bold black frames against the warm herringbone floors add instant depth and character to the renovation. It’s proof that you don’t always need to knock down walls to change the entire feel of a home—sometimes, you just need the right portals.
