If your stencil starts breaking down at washout, your water pressure might not be the problem 👀💧 A lot of screen makers blame washout, water pressure, or emulsion… when the real issue is underexposure Here are a few common signs your screen may be underexposed: ⚠️ Emulsion starts to break down during washout ⚠️ Color rubs off onto your finger when you touch the stencil ⚠️ You can visibly see the edge of the film positive too strongly after exposure ⚠️ Screens feel soft or weak instead of fully hardened Why it matters: A properly exposed stencil can handle washout better, hold detail more reliably, and stand up stronger on press. But when exposure is too low, the stencil is more likely to soften, lose durability, and create problems before printing even starts. The fix? Start with the recommended exposure guidelines, then dial it in with an exposure test. Taking the time to lock in exposure can save a lot of frustration in the screen room. 💡 Pro tip: If you rub the stencil and get color on your finger, that’s a warning sign you may be underexposed Chromaline emulsions are built for performance, but even the best emulsion needs the right exposure to do its job Need help dialing in exposure? 3 of like 1000 necessary supplies for screen printing. • Emulsion- A UV sensitive film that creates a hardened stencil over a mesh substrate. It’s like magic and @chromaline_ #chromalime emulsion is my favorite emulsion by far. • Degreaser/Dehazer (Pink Stuff) - A magical pink substance that makes your screen’s stubborn mess go bye. @chemical_consultants_inc This product is a dream. • Cured Ink Spray Out- A mythical smelling liquid that hardens (freezes temporarily) textile substrates, to allow inks to separate from the threads and be “Removed.” You shoot it out of a very loud sprayer that will dig a hole in your skin. @albachem This product is crazy expensive BUT it’s worth its weight in gold, so it’s all good. • • buckleyprint.com

Operating a screen printing setup involves a mix of precision, technique, and creativity 🎨🖌️. The process begins by preparing a stencil or screen that blocks ink in certain areas while leaving the design open. Ink is then applied to the screen, and a squeegee is used to press it evenly through the mesh onto the substrate, whether it’s a t-shirt, poster, or other surface. Proper alignment and pressure are critical to ensure sharp, clean prints, while the choice of ink and screen mesh affects color intensity and texture. Multi-color designs require careful registration, where each color layer must line up perfectly to create the final image. Beyond the mechanics, successful screen printing combines artistic vision with attention to detail, showing how technique, physics, and material science work together to produce professional, repeatable results. #ScreenPrinting #PrintMaking #TShirtPrinting #CreativeProcess

One small screen room habit can make a big difference in print quality ✨ After coating, always dry your screens squeegee side up, and here’s why 👇🏼 It may seem like a small detail, but screen orientation during drying affects where the emulsion settles, and that matters when you are trying to build a strong, consistent stencil. Here’s why it matters: ⬇️ Gravity helps the emulsion settle toward the print side Drying squeegee side up allows the emulsion to flow toward the print side of the screen, which is the side that contacts the substrate. 💪 Better stencil build where it counts That print side is where you want strong stencil formation and better gasketing for cleaner contact during printing. 🖨️ Improved print performance Better contact with the substrate helps support sharper prints, cleaner edges, and more reliable ink transfer. 📏 More consistency from screen to screen When you keep drying procedures consistent, you remove one more variable from the screen making process. 🛠️ Simple habit, better results Sometimes the smallest steps in the screen room are the ones that help prevent larger print problems later on press. 🌙 If you do not have a drying cabinet, you should still dry coated screens squeegee side up in a darkened, light-safe area. ✅ Good screens are not just coated well. They are dried well too. 📲 follow @chromaline_ for more screen making tips

Stop smashing your halftones! 🛑 Consistency is everything in CMYK printing. If you use too much pressure, you cause dot gain, smashing the ink into the garment and turning your colors muddy. ✅ The Push Stroke: Pushing gives you more control over angle and pressure than pulling for many printers. ✅ Triple Durometer: Use a 75/90/75 blade. The stiff 90-durometer core provides stability so the blade doesn't flex and dump too much ink. Keep a light, consistent touch to ensure those halftone dots stay crisp and vibrant. 🌈 Get the full CMYK Printing Guide through the link in bio! 🔗 #ScreenPrintTips #Halftones #ScreenPrinting #PushvsPull #CMYK #Avient #Ryonet #PoweringThePrint
