TEGetting started as a Scrum Master can be quite challenging, it’s your typical chicken and egg situation, you want to work as a Scrum Master but in a lot of cases you have to have worked as a Scrum Master to be able to get the job as a Scrum Master😜 (a situation we are all too familiar with even with other jobs!)
Just remember, even the Scrum Master that now has 5 years experience, started without having a Scrum Master job before getting their Scrum Master job, everyone has to start from somewhere 😉 so here are some tips to help you out ❤️:
✨Look out for opportunities where you can practice the scrum framework, this could be in your current role or other areas of life, e.g managing a group of people for an event.
✨Get involved in the Scrum community and build your network! Scrum has quite a number of different active communities that are very useful for new starters and experienced scrum masters in terms of knowledge sharing but also for job opportunities! It’s a great place to connect with people, hear about opportunities and get referrals.

✨Highlight your transferable skills, the majority of skills needed as a Scrum Master are transferable skills, which are a core set of skills and abilities, which can be applied to a wide range of different jobs and industries.
✨Find opportunities at your current job, projects, or through volunteering, to develop the necessary skills that are needed to become a Scrum Master, key skills: problem solving, communication (listening is key), leadership, organisational skills, collaborative and facilitation.
✨Of course this one is very obvious that’s why I have left it for last, but get your Scrum education and get certified! Some Scrum Master Certifications you can look into: PSM by scrum.org and CSM by Scrum Alliance
