JOSelf-righteous is a tell. It is a giant neon-arrow pointing towards where pain is. Where insecurity is. Where dishonesty is. Where unhealed trauma resides.
When I get self-righteous, I’m almost always covering up past hurts, current insecurities, places where I feel guilty, or places where I feel so enraged because I’m powerless to help and support.
When someone gets self-righteous,
That’s where their hurts and insecurities are.
Tread carefully, unless invited in.
That’s where the dragon lives.
