Sentimental Value non urla, non piange, non sporca mai il pavimento. Osserva. Cataloga. Misura.
È un film che parla di famiglia, di traumi, di legami irrisolti. Ma lo fa come si parla delle cose importanti a tavola: abbassando la voce, evitando l’imbarazzo, facendo finta che il dolore sia un elemento d’arredo.
“Ma allora qual è il problema?”
Il problema è proprio questo.
Perché Sentimental Value sembra un film intimo, ma in realtà racconta l’intimità così come il nostro tempo ha imparato a venderla: ordinata, composta e funzionale. Qui il trauma non esplode mai. Viene rievocato. Il conflitto non divora. Si archivia. I sentimenti non travolgono, si amministrano con attenzione, come un’eredità emotiva da non svalutare.
Questo non è un film sul dolore, ma sulla sua gestione. Non scava nell’abisso: lo guarda da dietro una ringhiera. E nel farlo ci restituisce un ritratto inquietantemente preciso del nostro presente, dove sentire troppo è sconveniente e sentire male è solo un problema di comunicazione. Il valore sentimentale, ormai, non è ciò che resta. È ciò che si può ancora esporre senza imbarazzo.
