🚨🗣️SETTERS🗣️🚨 (& every position because EVERYONE should be capable of setting a hittable ball) The best setters in the world don’t rush the ball. They accept it and manipulate it. The hands have to relax so they can absorb and control the ball before redirecting. Think of setting like a sling shot. Absorb ➡️ store ➡️ release. The wrists don’t create the power they finish the movement and energy transfer with late acceleration once everything’s moving. Soft hands Patient wrists Clean sets GET TO SHLINGIN’💪🏼💪🏼✌🏼 #volleyball #volleyballtraining #setters #volleyballsetter #volleyballtips volleyballcoach vballcoachjj

A staple of a good setter is having “good hands” This can look like a smooth contact and a quick release THESE 3 TIPS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IVE LEARNT TO GET BETTER HANDS! 👋🏼 READ BELOW: 1️⃣- Strong and flexible wrists 🧘 Having flexible wrists allows you to take the ball further back in your contact, but it means nothing if they aren’t strong. The strength is arguably more important, allowing you to have a quick release of the ball. Stretch your wrists and train your forearms twice a week! 2️⃣- Symmetrical hands 🧼 This is such an underrated component of setting. To reduce spin on the ball, and variation in the set, your hands should look the same after the ball exits. A good way of training this, is setting the ball normally, but holding your hands up and looking at them after the set. See if they look the same 3️⃣- Palms up 🆙 Finishing your set with. your palms upwards towards your target is an underrated part of setting. This helps you keep height on the ball, as well as having a nice smooth contact FOLLOW @tteksofj FOR SETTING TIPS! 💎 #volleyball #haikyu #tips #setter #fitnessreels

Setters, here’s a simple setting tool to fix the location of where you set the ball from. By taking the ball in the same location you improve your consistency. Make sure to share this with your setter bestie and save this post so you can come back to it later. And follow for daily tips, tools and leadership skills for setters that you can also apply to life 👉@jacksonstrength This is one of the setters I worked with today. As she was setting, I noticed she kept taking the ball too far forward and it looked hard for her to set the ball. She is very strong and super athletic so I knew something was just a little off. Watch the first part of the video where you can see how the setter takes the ball in front with her elbows out wide, thumbs are forward, hands are a little wide, head tilted back and body is unbalanced. I gave her a few cues and asked her to start with her hands above her head and to pull her thumbs back. Now watch the second part of the video… • Hands are high above her hands • Hands are tighter • Thumbs go back and she uses her wrists • Head is in a better position • Body is more controlled • The ball flows out of her hands easily By having her start with her hands above her head in the perfect position, it simplified things so she could feel where I wanted her to take the ball. Also, it showed her how easy it can be when you set from this position. Try this for yourself and/or give it to your setter to try. Please note, you will not start with your hands up like this in a match. This is only a teaching tool to use when practicing:) Send me a DM and let me know how it goes for you! If you want to learn the 7 mechanics to being consistent plus the keys to your mindset.. Comment keyword → CONSISTENT My helper will give you instant access to the 5-day Consistency Challenge! Sincerely, Krystal . . . . . . . Great job to JSV athlete Addison for being coachable and learning quickly. Keep up the good work!

5 Years ago i started out with no local club, and worked my way up to playing in the National League. These 5 tips helped me get to where i am today! READ BELOW ⬇️ (The 5th helped me the most!) 1️⃣- Solo practice 🧍‍♂️ As setters, we’re lucky that our position is one of the easiest to practice alone. One of the best solo practices that helped me was to simply set against the wall. Set high, one hand, two hands, quick, slow. There’s so many ways you can practice against the wall. 🔥 2️⃣- Footwork 🐾 THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FEAT OF GOOD SETTERS! Taking large steps to get to the ball, and smaller steps to adjust, before being still on your moment of contact is the best way to be stable and consistent when setting 3️⃣- Gym work (Setter specific) 💪🏼 As a setter, it’s important to be fast, and have strong wrists. Getting strong legs will help you move faster to reach the ball, and also jump higher. Having strong wrists will help you to set the ball faster and higher. 4️⃣- High hands 🙌🏻 Learning how to keep your hands higher when setting will make a huge difference to your setting game. This means that on your contact your hands are high on top of your forehead. This gives you more height and consistency in your sets 5️⃣- Get a WEIGHTED setting ball! 🏐 This was a game changer for me. This helped strengthen my wrists and fingers so much, and drastically improved my contact. Aim to do 100 sets up and down above your head without messing up/ getting too tired. These don’t have to be high sets, just 100 quick sets. FOLLOW @tteksofj FOR MORE! 💎 #volleyball #haikyu #tips #setter #fitnessreels

3 things to improve your setter connection ⬇️ Communication 💬 • First, Identify your hitting height, then establish what tempo you’re running with your setter 🙌🏻 • Talk about distance of the set. Is the hitter following the setter all the time❓or the setter setting to a specific area❓How close do you want the ball to the net. For shorter hitters, set ~1.5m off the net is safer 🫶🏻 • Give constructive feedback after each play 🗣️ • Practice hand signals, e.g. A quick is 👍🏻 Keep trying 💪🏻 be CONSISTENT • BE PATIENT‼️You’re going to fail more times than you succeed. But see every failed rep as a success ✅ in every failure is something new that your body has learned. • Keep experimenting with new plays, and tempos. The more you learn to adjust to different sets, the better of a hitter/setter you become 💯 • Timing is arguably the most important thing when it comes to hitting ⏱️ Trust 👬🏻🪢 • Believe in your hard work and each other’s ability to deliver. If you doubt, it shows in your play ❌ • Encourage risk-taking plays. Give each other the confidence to be creative. The best volleyball players are the most free ones 🕊️ • Be forgiving, everyone has off days. Support each other, and work on other things if it’s not your day 🫶🏻 . . . . . . . . . . . . #volleyball #volleyballplayer #volley #ball #fyp #haikyuu #jump #spike #explorepage #explore #middle #connect #connection #foryoupage #foryou #volleyballworld #volleyballlife #tips #tip #hit #coach

Training setters is layered. Every position requires teaching both the mechanics of the skill and the movement patterns and responsibilities that come with it. But for setters, that complexity multiplies. A back-row setter has to play base defense before the opponent sets the ball, shift into read defense once the play develops, and then transition quickly to run the offense. That sequence requires discipline, awareness, and the ability to execute a clean, consistent set at the end of constant movement. Setters need tons of footwork reps, reps that build instincts to move from defense to offense, read angles, and get to the net. The temptation is often to wait too long, release too early, or not get to the net at all. But consistency comes from repetition: reading early, moving efficiently, and delivering the ball on time and in rhythm. Practice doing it the right way, in the right sequence, until it becomes second nature. Our faith journey mirrors this same kind of training. Discipline, focus, and faithfulness shape our spiritual growth over time. Hebrews 12:11 says, “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Just like setters develop strength and rhythm through repetition, we grow spiritually through steady practice, staying faithful to the work God is doing in us, even when it’s hard. #volleyball #volleyballislife #volleyballgirls #volleyballteam #volleyballplayer #volleyballtraining #volleyballcoach #setter #setting #setters
