1. Esse é o shingleback skink, ou lagarto-de-língua-azul. A língua azul-choque é pra assustar predadores fingindo ser venenoso. Spoiler: não é.
2. A cauda grossa parece uma segunda cabeça. É estratégia pra confundir ataques: o predador morde o lugar errado e ele foge.
3. São lentos e blindados. As escamas parecem telhas, por isso o nome “shingleback”. A armadura aguenta mordida de cobra.
4. Vivem até 30 anos e são monogâmicos. Casais ficam juntos por décadas e voltam pro mesmo parceiro todo ano pra acasalar.
5. Onívoros tranquilos: comem flores, frutas, caracóis e insetos. A mordida é forte, mas só usam se forem muito provocados.
6. Quando ameaçados, abrem a boca rosa, mostram a língua azul e assopram alto. É tudo teatro pra parecer maior e perigoso.
7. Filhotes nascem gigantes. A fêmea tem só 1 ou 2 por ano, mas eles já saem com quase metade do tamanho da mãe.

ADThe total count for the day was actually 9 shinglebacks (or bobtail lizards as we call them in Western Australia) and 1 bluetongue lizard. I went back and rescued 4 more after I released these ones.
