What is it?
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), or simply Lupus, is a long-term (chronic) illness. It happens when your immune system—which usually fights germs—gets confused and starts attacking your own healthy body parts instead.
🔍 What to Look For (Symptoms)
- The Butterfly Rash: A red, wing-shaped rash across the bridge of the nose and cheeks.
- Sun Sensitivity: Sunlight can trigger skin rashes or make you feel sick and tired.
- Joint Pain: Swollen, stiff, or painful joints (like the wrists and knees).
- Total Exhaustion: Feeling extremely tired even after a full night’s sleep.
- Hair & Mouth: Thinning hair and small, nagging sores inside the mouth or nose.
- Chest Pain: A sharp "stabbing" feeling in the chest when you take a deep breath.
- Kidney Warning: If your urine looks foamy or your legs and eyes look puffy/swollen, your kidneys might be struggling.
