Comment 300 if you’ve ever been mid-lesson, behavior pops up out of nowhere, and you wished you had a clear plan already in place… and you’d like the link. There’s always that moment. Someone blurts out again. Another student refuses to start. Two kids dig in with each other and now the whole room feels different. And you’re still supposed to teach. I put the Behavior Intervention Toolkit together for those regular classroom days. The ones where behavior shows up and you need a response that doesn’t turn into a long back-and-forth. Inside are structured plans for common challenges, visuals you can point to, and tools you can pull out quickly instead of trying to figure out what to say while twenty pairs of eyes are watching. It helps to have something prepared so when behavior happens, you’re responding on purpose instead of reacting in the moment. If that sounds helpful, comment 300 and I’ll send you the link. #classroommanagement #behaviorsupport #teachertools #schoolcounselor #positivebehaviorsupport

When we focus our strategies and interventions on improving a specific behavior through skill and capacity building, matching consequences to actually make sense and deter the behavior from reoccurring… that’s when we will see progress with our more challenging students. I teach secondary teachers how to do this in my behavior management made simple course (this and so much more!) comment “course” to join #behaviormanagement #classroommanagement #teachersoftiktok #teachertok

The one thing? Looking below the surface. Behavior is the tip of the iceberg. What we see: • Refusal • Disruption • Avoidance • Joking • “I don’t care.” What’s underneath: • “I don’t know how.” • “This feels too hard.” • “I’m overwhelmed.” • “I don’t know where to start.” We’re trained to look at what happened before and after a behavior. But sometimes we stop at the immediate trigger. The real driver can be deeper: A skill gap. Overwhelm. Executive overload. Confusion. The antecedent might be “independent work.” But the barrier might be “I don’t know how to start.” Behaviors in the classroom don’t happen in a vacuum. They’re often protective. When learning hits a wall, behavior is the signal. Address what’s underneath. Then behavior shifts. Which one do you see most in your classroom? Consistent follow through, fair and reasonable expectations, processes, and procedures that promote unity not division are all fundamental factors to creating a psychologically safe environment. As educators, our platform is our classroom. We are the leaders, the vibe creators/manipulators, the influencers and managers of norms—it’s IMPERITIVE we recognize that capital and invest in our space WISELY. If you’re struggling with any of this, in any way—the starting place to fixing it begins in the Behavior Management Made Simple course. Comment “course” to get started today. The point here is to build capacity & skills, not use power & control to get compliance/engagement. We’re working with children, children are significantly lacking skills in regulating their emotions and controlling themselves. Yes, 18 year olds are still children!! We all know that our prefrontal cortex’s aren’t fully developed until our mid to late 20s. Therefore, if we expect our students (children) to make better choices, follow expectations, have self-control, etc… we have to model it, explicitly teach it, reinforce it (positive and negative consequences), and be patient (regulate ourselves) as they build their skills and capacity. This is a foundational skill I emphasize in the Behavior Management Made Simple course. Comment “course” if you’re ready to switch up (or establish) your classroom management system! #behaviormanagement #classroommanagement #teachersoftiktok #teachertok

➡️Trying to get kids started on a task? 🧠Try this brain hack: lower the activation energy and build momentum before the cognitive lift. Here are other low-energy, task initiation moves that get brains going: 💥Look at your pencil 💥Whisper your favorite snack to your eraser 💥Tap your pencil three times 💥Trace your name in the air 💥Underline the first word in problem one 💥Put your finger on the period at the end of the first sentence 💥Circle one word you recognize 💥Draw a small star next to question one #classroommanagement #behaviortips #supportingstudents #studentengagement #behaviorsupportforteachers

The first 60 seconds of a behavior meeting determine whether it becomes collaborative or combative. When we lead with curiosity instead of conclusions, we signal that we’re trying to understand — not accuse. That small shift keeps families regulated, which keeps the whole room regulated. If you want meetings that feel steady, productive, and solution-focused, you need questions that guide the room instead of escalate it. Comment MEETING and I’ll send you the free handout. #futureschoolcounselor #schoolcounselor #elementaryschoolcounselor #teachersofinstagram

You know what I used to do all day? Repeat directions. Answer the same questions. Put out tiny fires. And I was EXHAUSTED. The biggest shift in my classroom didn’t come from a new behavior system. It came from visuals. When students can SEE: ✔ what to do ✔ where to go ✔ how to do it ✔ what comes next 👉 they stop needing you for every step. That’s when independence starts. That’s when your room gets calm. That’s when teaching feels lighter. These are the exact visuals I use every single day to make my classroom practically run itself. If you want them too, I’ve got you ❤️ Comment VISUALS and I’ll send you the link to the Classroom Management System. • • • • #classroommanagement #behaviormanagement #socialemotionallearning #teacherhacks #firstgradeteacher

When the same behavior keeps happening, most of us default to: • more reminders • stronger consequences • faster corrections And sometimes that works… briefly. 😅 But long-term change happens when students are actually taught: • the skills behind behaviors • routines that prevent escalation • simple repair structures that build responsibility 💛 I’m teaching a free, live class tomorrow, Tuesday, March 3rd at 8PM EST, where I’ll share strategies to survive the rest of the year without escalating, burning out, or feeling stuck. All live attendees will leave with a free behavior resource pack + a 1-hour PD certificate. When people say “kids aren’t the same anymore,” I agree. They aren’t. They speak up. They question authority. They don’t respond to fear the way previous generations did. That doesn’t mean they’re worse. It means they need different skills modeled and taught. Consequences should teach. Not just control. Restorative practices. PBIS. SEL. Trauma-informed approaches. Not as buzzwords — but as frameworks. If you want to build authority without fear and structure without shame, that’s exactly what I teach inside Behavior Management Made Simple. 🔗 comment “course” #behaviormanagement #classroommanagement #teachersoftiktok #teachertok
