Ever feel like your shoulder blade is bolted to your ribcage? Your scapula (shoulder blade) is designed to be a "floating" platform. For every degree you lift your arm, that blade needs to swivel and slide to clear a path for the joint. But after hours of sitting at a desk or repetitive lifting, that platform can get "rusted" into place. When your shoulder blade stops gliding, your body starts stealing movement from your neck and joints just to get the job done. The Neck Tax: Since the shoulder blade isn't helping, your neck muscles (like the levator scap and upper traps) have to do double the work to hoist your arm up. Hello, tension headaches and that "granite" feeling in your tops of your shoulders. The "Doorstop" Pinch: Think of your shoulder blade like a hinge. If it doesn't rotate out of the way, the arm bone hits a "dead end" in the socket. This is that sharp, nasty pinch you feel at the front of the joint when reaching overhead. The Endurance Burn: That deep, gnawing ache between your blades? That’s the sound of exhausted muscles trying to pull a "stuck" weight all day long. Most people try to fix this by stretching their neck or icing the front of the shoulder. But that’s just treating the "victim." The real "bully" is the immobile shoulder blade. This is where "Active Release" changes the game. Instead of just passively rubbing the area, we often have you slowly move your arm while we "pin" the restricted tissue. It’s like straightening out a kinked garden hose while the water is running. By moving under pressure, we’re forcing those stuck layers of tissue to slide past each other again. It "unwicks" the tension and tells your brain that it’s finally safe to let go. Once that platform is moving again, the "tax" on your neck disappears and that front-of-shoulder pinch finally has a chance to heal. The Sharp Physio Team #shoulderblade #shoulderbladepain

Your neck doesn’t work alone. If the shoulder blades and upper back aren’t moving well, the neck often has to compensate — leading to tightness, stiffness, and recurring pain. In this clip, we are restoring motion through the upper back while retraining scapular retraction and protraction. When the shoulders move better, the neck doesn’t have to work as hard. Sometimes the solution isn’t treating the neck — it’s addressing the system around it. 💪 Want to find what’s actually causing your pain? The answer might surprise you. DM us “CLARITY” to get started.

Your upper back and neck are a team… And when one struggles— The other picks up the slack. Here’s what happens when one starts to struggle: ➡️ Sitting more ➡️ Shoulders roll forward ➡️ Upper back stiffens ➡️ Neck has to overwork to keep your head up And now you’re stuck in a cycle of: ❌ tight upper back ❌ stiff neck ❌ recurring tension or headaches Most people try to stretch the neck… but ignore what’s happening right below it. ✨ When we address alignment and movement as a system— not just a symptom—things start to actually hold. 📍 Realign. Restore. Relieve.

Does your neck constantly feel tight, stiff, or “out of alignment”? 😣 It may not be your joints or posture. When the levator scapula gets glued down by adhesion, it can create: • Persistent neck tightness • A pulling sensation from the shoulder blade into the neck • That constant feeling like your neck is “off” no matter how much you stretch Stretching and cracking won’t fix tissue that can’t slide. By releasing adhesion, aka scar tissue, in the levator scapula, we restore normal movement, reduce tension, and help the neck finally settle back into proper alignment. 📍 Peak Injury Solutions 👨‍⚕️ Dr. Matt Maggio| Raleigh, NC If you’ve tried stretching, massage, PT, injections, or chiropractic care and the pain keeps coming back… There may be a deeper reason. 🔍 — Now we know it’s impossible to learn everything from the internet, so what we offer is a No-Charge Injury Consultation with one of our providers to make sure potential patients are a good fit for our specialized and unique functional approach. ⁣ If someone is interested and wants to find out more and sign up, here’s what to do.👇🏻⁣ ⁣ 1. Neck pain isn’t just about rubbing where it hurts. It takes a therapist who understands anatomy, biomechanics, and how different systems influence each other. In this video, I’m working a first rib release. The client is seated while I apply a specific line of pressure inferior and posterior, matching the angle of the mastoid process but delivered down into the shoulder fossa just anterior to the upper trap. Why does this matter? Because the first rib plays a big role in neck tension, breathing mechanics, and how the cervical spine moves. If it’s elevated or restricted, it can drive pain, stiffness, and limited motion up the chain. This isn’t guesswork. It’s precision. The right technique, applied in the right direction, for the right reason. That’s the difference between temporary relief and actually changing how your body moves.

You woke up and it hurts to turn your head… This is one of my favorite ways to work through that. Whether it’s at the neck or somewhere else-using a different body part to drive relative movement at the desired area is a great way to start working through painful areas. Take 30 seconds and try this one out.

Neck pain ruining your day? 😩 Manual therapy (hands-on techniques like mobilization, manipulation & soft tissue work) is a game-changer for many people. Why it matters: - Quickly reduces pain & muscle tension - Restores joint mobility & eases nerve pressure - Often more effective short-term than meds or exercise alone Multiple systematic reviews & meta-analyses show manual therapy significantly lowers pain intensity & neck disability — especially when combined with exercise for longer-term relief. Don’t just pop pills — get hands-on help from a skilled PT. Your neck (and posture) will thank you. 💆‍♂️ Evidence backs it: From Cochrane reviews to recent 2023-2025 studies, manual therapy consistently helps acute/chronic neck pain, cervicogenic headaches, even radiculopathy. 🤯 What if those stubborn knots between your shoulder blades… aren’t actually muscle knots? A lot of people spend years stretching, massaging, and foam rolling their upper back… yet the tightness keeps coming back. Why? Because sometimes the real problem is a spinal accessory nerve entrapment ⚡️ This nerve controls key muscles around the neck and shoulder blades. When it gets stuck in adhesion, it can cause those constant knots, burning, and tightness between the shoulder blades that never fully go away. Instead of chasing the “knot,” we work to remove the adhesion trapping the nerve, allowing the muscles to finally relax and move normally again. 💥 📍 Pivotal Point Pain Solutions Hudson, Wisconsin — 15 minutes east of the Twin Cities If you’re tired of those shoulder blade knots coming back again and again… 💬 Comment “PAIN” if you’re tired of suffering. 🔥 #neckpain #neckpainrelief #backpain #backpainrelief

😮‍💨 Neck tension? Tight traps? You’re not alone. . One of the most common complaints Ari hears is neck pain — and most of the time, it doesn’t start there. Rolled shoulders, forward head posture, overactive traps… it’s all connected. 🔗 . What you’re seeing here is a myofascial technique called Pin and Stretch — where Ari pins down a tight, tender spot in the tissue and works through it to release the knot at the source. Not just the symptom. 🙌 . This kind of work helps: ✅ Drop the shoulders ✅ Release neck pain and tension ✅ Reduce headaches and migraines ✅ Restore full, free range of motion . Your body is designed to move fluidly in every direction. When it can’t, that’s a signal. The goal of FST is to restore what’s been lost — so you can train harder, recover faster, and just feel better in your body every single day. 💆‍♀️💪 . Ready to experience it for yourself?
