1969: Soviet produced a lot of technology to land on the Moon. In these animation by Apple Inc. taken from For All Mankind exclusive content, we see the Orlan space suit used for EVAs in Soviet and Russian space program. In April 2004, China imported 12 Orlan spacesuits from Russia. LOK Soyuz capsule would carry two cosmonauts, acting as a mother ship for the LK Lander which would land one crew member to the surface. Soviet planned to use the N1 rocket. 4 of these rockets were built, all launches ended in massive explosion . #nasa #astronomy #astrophotography #space #history

The Soviet space program led the early Space Race with a remarkable series of historic “firsts,” beginning with Sputnik 1 in 1957, the world’s first artificial satellite, followed by Sputnik 2 carrying Laika, the first animal in orbit; in 1961 Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space aboard Vostok 1, while Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space on Vostok 6, and Alexei Leonov achieved the first spacewalk during Voskhod 2; they also accomplished major robotic milestones such as Luna 2 (first human-made object to reach the Moon), Luna 9, and Venera 7 (first probe to land on another planet and send data), and pioneered long-term space habitation with the Salyut program, the world’s first space stations, cementing their legacy as trailblazers who achieved many of the foundational milestones of human space exploration. #fy #space #soviet #fyp #politics

NOT AMERICAN … BUT RUSSIAN 🌏 Part 402 ✨FUN FACT : This is the Soviet Union’s Space Shuttle that successfully launched into space in 1988. Unlike the American Space Shuttle, the Buran was a “ghost ship” capable of entirely autonomous flight, completing a perfect unmanned landing in 1988 despite heavy crosswinds. The Energia rocket itself was a versatile “side-car” system that could launch 100 tons of any cargo, not just the orbiter, and utilized high-efficiency engines like the NK-33 technology so advanced that American companies eventually bought and used them decades later for their own space missions. These are real old images and films which are enchanted to show high quality details. 🧑‍🚀 Follow @spacegenerationx for more space content 🎬 Credit ig : max.stolbov #nasa #space #viral #usa #europe

On this day in 1961, Soviet astronaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. But this wasn’t just about space—it was about Cold War dominance. The USSR sent a message to the US: we’re ahead. This moment pushed America to go all-in on the space race. #transbordador #espacial #cccp #URSS #russia

At the height of the Cold War, the USSR led the Space Race, achieving historic firsts from the first satellite to the first human and woman in space. The USA reached the Moon in 1969 (without a doubt a great achievement for humanity), but the Soviets set the pace and dominated early space exploration. 1957 – Sputnik, the first artificial satellite, launched by the USSR 1957 – Laika, the first animal in space, sent by the USSR 1961 – Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space for the USSR 1963 – Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space for the USSR 1965 – First spacewalk conducted by the USSR 1966 – First spacecraft landing on the Moon by the USSR 1969 – Neil Armstrong became the first person on the Moon for the USA 1970 – First aircraft landing on Venus by the USSR 1971 – First space station, Salyut 1, launched by the USSR 1975 – The Apollo Soyuz handshake marked the end of the Space Race and the first US-USSR collaboration in space #fyp #explore #coldwar #spacerace #yurigagarin #neilarmstrong #moonlanding #apollo #soyuz #história

March 18, 1965 — A Soviet cosmonaut opened an airlock and floated out into the void. No human being had ever done this before. Twelve minutes later, he almost couldn't get back in. The Space Race between the United States and Soviet Union had already produced a string of firsts: first satellite, first human in orbit, first woman in space. Now the Soviets wanted the next milestone — the first human to leave a spacecraft and float free in the vacuum of space. Alexei Leonov was chosen. His Voskhod 2 capsule was barely large enough for two men. The airlock he would use was an inflatable tube attached to the outside of the craft. On the morning of March 18, over the Soviet Union at an altitude of 500 kilometers, Leonov pulled himself through the tube and emerged into the void. He floated on a 5-meter tether in a universe of absolute black and burning white. He could see the curve of the Earth beneath him, hear nothing but the sound of his own breathing, and feel the sun on one side and the -270°C of space on the other. He took photographs and performed maneuvers. He had 12 minutes. Then he tried to return. His spacesuit had inflated in the vacuum, stiffening so much that he could not fit back through the airlock. He was stuck outside the spacecraft, alone, 500 kilometers above Earth. Leonov made a decision that was not in the flight plan: he bled air pressure from his suit manually, dangerously reducing his oxygen level, until he could bend enough to pull himself headfirst back through the hatch. He tumbled in, heart rate at 190 beats per minute, soaked in sweat. The mission report kept this detail classified for decades. The world saw only the triumph. Leonov saw the abyss — and pulled himself back from it. #Spacewalk #AlexeiLeonov #SpaceHistory #SovietSpaceProgram #SpaceRace #WorldHistory #HistoryReels #HistoricalMoments #EpicHistory #CosmonautHistory Follow @justaskbud for daily history videos 📚

Soviet Docking System — How Spacecraft Connect in Orbit This footage explains the Soviet docking system, a critical technology that made space stations like Salyut possible. At its core, the system works through a simple but precise concept: one spacecraft is “active”, equipped with a docking probe (rod), while the other is “passive,” fitted with a receiving mechanism. During approach, the active vehicle must align perfectly and insert the probe into the docking port. Once contact is made, the system pulls the two spacecraft together into a rigid, airtight connection. After docking is secured, electrical and fluid connections are established between the vehicles—allowing power, data, and life-support systems to operate seamlessly. Finally, a hatch opens, enabling cosmonauts to transfer between spacecraft or into a space station like Salyut. A delicate process in zero gravity— where precision means everything. #DockingSystem #AerospaceEngineering #OrbitalMechanics #SpaceTechnology #Engineering #Space #SpaceTech #Science #Cosmos #newtechnology
