KSMILLRACE FIRE: Yet again, today’s human-caused fire in Springville is probably a sign of things to come this summer. To be clear though, fires like this aren’t unheard of in the spring. I think the rate at which this thing spread in really dry vegetation is what’s most concerning.
Many of you saw this fire break out in Springville near I-15 on mile post marker 261 today. It is still burning and is estimated to be 75-100 acres. Firefighters will be watching and monitoring through the night to make sure things are under control.
Fire is burning phragmites in a marshy area near Provo Bay and has sent smoke to I-15 commuters.

NEThe Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is looking at monetarily punishing the promoters of recent unsanctioned spring break events in Daytona Beach, including one this past weekend.
Investigators are looking into events promoted on social media specifically.
“If you promote an unsanctioned event and we incur cost and police, fire, EMS and trash cleanup, you are responsible for the cost of that event,” said Sheriff Mike Chitwood at a news conference Tuesday.
