Emirates flight EK241 from Dubai to Toronto was forced to divert to Glasgow on Sunday after crews issued a ‘Squawk 7700’ code. The code signals an emergency on board and sends an alert to Air Traffic Control. Glasgow Airport confirmed a passenger medical emergency was the cause of the diversion. Flight tracking data shows the aircraft, which left Dubai at around 4am on Sunday, turning over the North Sea before diverting to Glasgow. The flight landed at around 8.30am before taking off for Toronto around two and a half hours later. 안녕하세요. 테드입니다. 👨‍✈️ 영화에도 자주나오는 단골같은 이 숫자들, 다들 아시나요? 7500, 7600, 7700. 신입조종사들이 반드시 알고 있어야할 이 숫자들은 비상시에 사용해야할 Code입니다. 항공기에는 Transponder라는 장비가 달려있는데요. 지상의 Radar가 신호를 주면 거기에맞게 응답을 하는 장비이지요. 이를 통해서 항공기의 고도를 포함한 다양한 정보를 지상에서 알 수 있어요. 특히, Transponder에는 4자리 숫자를 입력할 수 있는데요. 각 자리마다 0부터 7까지, 즉 0000부터 7777까지 입력이 가능해요. 항공기별로 이 Squawk code라는 것을 지정함으로써 구별하기 쉽게 도움을 주죠. 여기서 약속을 하게 됩니다. 7500을 입력하면 Hijacking (공중납치) 7600을 입력하면 Radio communication failure(교신불가) 7700을 입력하면 비상상황 이라고 말이죠. 여기서 궁금증이 생길 수 있죠. 0000부터 7777까지 아무리 경우의 수가 많아봐야 4096개인데, 전세계 그 많은 항적을 어떻게 구별하죠???? 이는 중첩이 안되게 Reset squawk하여, 다른 code로 재지정하기 때문에 그럴일이 없습니다 🫡
