Static posts and carousels now support a 3:4 crop which is the default iPhone photo ratio, YAY!
Prior to this, the maximum size for these posts was 4:5, and although this isn’t a mega change, on a scrolling app, SCREEN SPACE MATTERS! 📈

People often try too hard on dynamic shots because it’s more interesting, and that’s not wrong! But static shots can easily be as interesting, if not more interesting with a few simple techniques 🤭❤️
1. Look for leading lines

3. Place your subject in the centre

RAThis is by far one of the easiest and most important shots that can completely elevate your footage and give it that ultimate cinematic feel! Normally I would suggest using a tripod, however sometimes you can’t just lug a tripod around with you everyday. So here is an example of only static shots which are all handheld to show that this is still very possible! Of course, it can be hard to hold the shot, especially if it’s windy… see shot with boat and dust… A tip to use to keep the camera as steady as possible is to hold the neck strap taught with the camera pulled out in front of you. This keeps the camera as steady as possible, I notice that I hold my breath too but obviously that doesn’t last long! I try to get at least 10 seconds of footage before moving and sometimes it takes a few goes. It’s best to try your best to keep as still as possible because warp stabiliser can be rubbish sometimes so you can’t rely on it! Does anyone else have any cool techniques they use for handheld static shots?
