Etter tiår med sol, regn og tusenvis av publikummere, takker benkene nå for seg🪚❤️ Snart skal nye stoler på plass - så publikum kan sitte komfortabelt når neste års spel vekkes til live. By then, Olav had walked all the way from Selånger in Sweden, crossing the mountains to Norway and gathered many allies. After his death in Stiklestad almost 1000 years ago, people started to talk about miracles that occurred around Olav. St. Olaf Haraldsson, born around 995 A.D., was a fierce Viking warrior who later became King of Norway and a pillar of the country’s Christian identity. Raised in the pagan warrior culture of the Norse world, Olaf spent his youth raiding across the Baltic and England. But while in Normandy around 1013, he experienced a profound conversion, was baptized, and committed himself to Christ, an act that would define the rest of his life. In 1015, he returned to Norway and seized the throne, determined to unify the land under Christianity. Unlike earlier rulers who tolerated paganism, Olaf enforced Christian law with fiery zeal, destroying temples, baptizing thousands, and building churches. His methods were often harsh, and many local chieftains rebelled, viewing him as a tyrant. In 1028, he was exiled by a coalition of nobles supported by King Cnut of Denmark. But Olaf was not content to die in exile. In 1030, he returned to reclaim his crown and complete the Christianization of Norway. At the Battle of Stiklestad, outnumbered and outmaneuvered, he died sword in hand, pierced by multiple wounds. His death was seen not as a defeat but a martyrdom, miracles soon followed, his body was found incorrupt, and within a year he was canonized. St. Olaf became Norway’s patron saint and was revered as the Eternal King of Norway. His cult spread across Scandinavia and beyond, symbolizing the victory of the Cross over the sword, and the transformation of a violent Norse warrior into a servant of Christ. To this day, he remains a towering figure of Christian kingship and courageous faith.
