This is the trapeze table, a key piece of Pilates equipment designed for strength, mobility, and support. The frame provides a stable and sturdy structure for all movements, both lying down and suspended. Springs can be attached to the frame at each end and at various heights and are used to add adjustable resistance or assistance, The trapeze bar can be used for hanging, stretching, and controlled strength work. The Push through bar can be connected to springs either from above or below the frame, which changes how it works, and can be used to either provide downward resistance or assist the movement. The “fluffies” are padded cuffs that support the body (wrists or ankles), making movements more comfortable and secure. Cuffs hanging exercises can be used deload the spine or they can be sued in challenging strength exercises The bed of the trapeze is relatively high allowing those that struggle to get to the floor to have a higher surface to lie on to carry out exercises (or simply cuddle up on with a good movie!). It’s ‘bridging’ strength. It’s ‘footwork’ alignment. It’s ‘leg spring’ control. And it’s ‘short spine’ articulation. These are exercises we all regularly do in class. When you build the foundations properly, you can safely progress to more advanced exercises like this one because the movements will feel familiar and your body will be prepared.
