Clap Test - Before & After This clap test highlights the crazy transformation this studio went through from untreated to treated. When we arrived to do this installation, the echo and reverb was very clear and obvious. We installed our panels and acoustic curtain, which really changed the sound so much. This studio was treated with 14 of our 4” Dulce Plaza Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps for echo reduction and sound balancing, including our Triangle Bass Traps for clean corner treatment, Large Rolling Gobos for flexibility, and a custom Acoustic Curtain for window treatment. Studio Before & After Every treated studio begins as a set of ideas on paper. Early planning focuses on the room’s size, layout, fixed elements, and how the space will be used. These details shape where treatment is placed and what type of treatment is needed. From there, the plan is translated into a physical installation. Panel locations, corner treatment, ceiling coverage, and isolation elements are installed to match the layout that was mapped out in advance. The finished studio follows the layout developed during the planning stage. This studio was treated with 8 of our 2” and 4” Standard White Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps and Midrange Acoustic Panels for echo reduction and sound balancing, including custom sized panels and Triangle Bass Traps for clean corner treatment. Studio Done Every studio is different. Room size, shape, ceiling height, layout, and how the space is used all affect how sound behaves. That’s why acoustic treatment isn’t something that works the same way from room to room. Without guidance, it’s easy to make decisions that seem logical but don’t address the real issues. Panels get placed where they look right instead of where they need to be. Money gets spent on treatment that doesn’t match the room or the work being done in it. Expert acoustic advice helps narrow the focus. It looks at the room as it exists, how it’s being used, and what needs to be controlled first. That makes treatment more effective and avoids trial and error that can drag on for months or years. This studio was treated with 12 of our 4” Standard White Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps for echo reduction and sound balancing, with custom sized panels and our Gobos for flexible treatment. Installation Progress We're making progress on installing the acoustic panels and bass traps in this studio. Acoustic treatment is there to manage how sound behaves once it leaves a source. In an untreated room, sound reflects off walls, ceilings, and corners and continues moving through the space long after it is produced. Acoustic treatment reduces how much of this reflected sound is added back into the space. By controlling reflections where they occur, the room becomes accurate for listening, recording, and performance. The purpose is not to remove sound, but to limit how much the room itself alters it. This studio was treated with 7 of our 4” Standard Beige and Standard Brown Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps for echo reduction and sound balancing, including Triangle Bass Traps for clean corner treatment. Clap Test – Before & After Any time sound is created indoors, it exists in two forms at once: the sound coming from the source, and the sound created by the room around it. Both arrive at your ears together. The room’s contribution comes from hard surfaces. Sound spreads outward, hits walls, ceilings, floors, furniture, and windows, and continues moving through the space. None of this requires high volume or special equipment. It happens any time sound is present. Acoustic treatment is used to manage that second part, the sound added by the room itself. By absorbing sound at selected surfaces, treatment limits how much the space contributes on top of the original source. This is why acoustics is part of recording, mixing, writing, and listening environments, not just large studios or performance spaces. This studio was treated with 10 of our 4” Fabric Upgrade Option Dulce Ensign Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps for echo reduction and sound balancing, including Custom size Bass Traps and a Custom 4’ x 5’ Cloud. Studio Re-Installation Part 4 - Completion! This studio is now done. We started today with un-installing all acoustic panels and bass traps from the client’s old space, transporting them to the new studio space, and re-installing them here in the new space. Acoustic treatment is used to manage how sound interacts with a room. Walls, ceilings, corners, and open areas all affect what is heard, often in uneven ways. Treatment places control at specific locations so those effects are reduced and made more predictable. This does not remove sound from the room, but limits how much the room itself alters what is played or recorded. This is why acoustic treatment is important in a studio environment. Recording, mixing, and listening all rely on consistent sound behavior within the space. When the room’s influence is controlled, decisions are made based on the source and the playback system rather than the room itself. This studio was treated with 13 of our 3”, 4”, and 6” Dulce Dove Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps for echo reduction and sound balancing. Finding the Right Balance of Treatment Acoustic treatment is not about covering every surface or leaving large areas untreated. Both under-treating and over-treating create problems that affect how a room works. When a room is under-treated, reflections and buildup remain uncontrolled. Echo, ringing, and uneven response continue to interfere with recording and monitoring. The room still adds sound that should not be there. Over-treating creates a different issue. When too much absorption is added without planning, a room can lose useful energy and sound unnatural for recording and performance. The space may feel disconnected from the sound being made in it. Finding the right balance means controlling reflections and buildup while preserving a space that still functions for recording, mixing, and everyday use. When treatment is balanced, the room functions as intended for the work being done in it. This studio was treated with 13 of our 4” Dulce Spice Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps and Acoustic Panels for echo reduction and sound balancing, with our Triangle Bass Traps for corners, Custom large rolling Gobos for flexible treatment, and a Custom ceiling cloud. Installation Progress A professional studio environment is defined by how the room functions acoustically, not by its original purpose or appearance. Bedrooms, offices, garages, and commercial spaces can all be used for recording and mixing when sound is properly controlled. The way treatment is applied matters more than the starting condition of the room. Panels and bass traps are placed based on where the room contributes the most interference. This focuses control where it is needed, rather than spreading treatment evenly without regard to function. As treatment is installed, sound becomes more consistent throughout the room. This consistency allows the space to support recording and monitoring without constant adjustment based on position or room layout. This studio was treated with 8 of our 2” and 4” Standard White Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps and Midrange Acoustic Panels for echo reduction and sound balancing, including custom sized panels and Triangle Bass Traps for clean corner treatment. Completed Studio Treatment A room isn’t finished just because panels are on the walls. Acoustic treatment is done when the room is controlled enough to support the work happening in it. That means reflections are under control, low-frequency buildup is managed, and the room no longer adds problems that interfere with recording or mixing. At that point, you’re hearing the room consistently and you’re not having to work around it while you’re working. Adding more treatment beyond that point doesn’t automatically improve the room. Once the core issues are handled, additional panels may not significantly change how the room functions. A room is done when it reaches the level of accuracy and control required for its purpose. That point looks different for every space, depending on how the room is used. This studio was treated with 8 of our 2” and 4” Standard White Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps and Midrange Acoustic Panels for echo reduction and sound balancing, including custom sized panels and Triangle Bass Traps for clean corner treatment. Clap Test - Before & After Every studio starts with a different physical setup. Room size, ceiling height, desk position, and speaker placement all change how sound reflects and builds up in the space. Because of that, acoustic treatment plans are made on a room by room basis. Layouts are based on the specific conditions of the studio rather than a standard plan. Panel placement, movable gobos, and ceiling treatment are chosen to match the room’s layout and the way the space is set up. This studio was treated with 13 of our 6” and 8” Standard Black and Standard White Ultacoustic All Broadband Bass Traps for echo reduction and sound balancing, including a custom sized panels, Large Rolling Gobos for flexible treatment, and our Column Bass Traps for low and sub-low frequency control.
