I used to think good students take a lot of notes.
My notebook was full.
My brain was empty.
I studied 6–8 hours a day.
My grades? Still average.
Until I realized:

BYHi, my name is Aria 👋
I used to study 15 hours a day in pursuit of perfect grades.
I so desperately wanted to be at the top.
Not just “good enough” or “passing”… I wanted to get 100%.
I remember one night taking my laptop and a pillow into the living room and typing until I fell asleep.
That was the very moment I realised I couldn’t continue to do this.
I was burnt out.
Here are the lessons I learned the hard way which have made me burnout-proof ever since:
- You can do everything, just not all at once
Learn to prioritise what is most important and impactful to work on RIGHT NOW. Focus on that until it’s finished, then move on.
- Sleep is the secret ingredient to sustainable success
Staying up late one night might feel like discipline and success, but it certainly wont the next day when you’re struggling to focus in class.
- Don’t procrastinate about enjoying your life
The key thing with this is to do it in a way that restores your energy, not depletes it - think spending time with good quality people for lunch vs going to the club until 4am (no hate tho you do you)
- Compartmentalise HARD - learn to lock in and clock out on command
When it’s time to work, it’s time to work, and that’s it. And when you’re done, pack it away, physically and mentally.
- You don’t gain anything from doing more for the sake of doing more
Quality > quantity. I used to spend 2-3 hours a day rewriting notes, when I could have spent 30 mins doing flashcards and remembered 6x as much.
