FOMy biggest fear has always been that my child would start to stutter. Yesterday I made that phone call.
This is a very hard video for me to watch and an even harder video for me to share.
Yesterday I called BVC to ask for a referral to a speech therapist for my son. I have been afraid of that call for as long as I can remember. I remember thinking about this already when I was a child myself: what if my children start to stutter too?
We have heard some stuttering tendencies in one of our children. It might be nothing, it might pass, but yesterday I still made the call I have feared for so long.
I could barely speak. My whole body went into panic and it felt like I forgot how to breathe.
The nurse I talked to was so kind. She let me finish, she didn’t rush me and she made me feel safe in a moment that was very hard for me. I am so grateful for that.
