...here’s the truth 👇🔍 I hear this fear from so many writers, and I get it! 😬 That manuscript represents countless hours of your creative energy and passion. But here’s the reality: someone who would steal another writer’s work is likely not at the level where they could successfully navigate the publishing industry. Ideas alone aren’t what sell books. It’s the unique execution that matters. ✨ Plus, your work is automatically protected by copyright laws the moment you create it. If your actual writing gets stolen, you have legal protection. 📝⚖️ What you should really be afraid of? NOT sharing your work at all and therefore, not leveling up as a writer! 😱 Without feedback from critique partners and beta readers, your writing can’t level up. Without putting your stories into the world, you’ll never connect with the readers who need them. 😢 Think of it this way: George R.R. Martin wasn’t the first to write about dragons, and Stephenie Meyer didn’t invent vampires. What made their stories successful was their unique execution and voice. 🐉🧛 The publishing industry is built on trust and reputation. Literary agents and editors are looking for original voices they can build long-term relationships with—not one-hit wonders built on stolen work. 📚 This is not to say theft has NEVER happened—always use your best judgment when sharing your work, just as you would when assessing a new job or potential hire. But don’t let fear hold you back from sharing your writing. The risks of keeping your work hidden far outweigh the tiny chance that someone might steal it and the even teenier chance they would get that stolen work published. Ready to find great writers who can help you level up your manuscript?
