OUDiscover Fremont’s hidden gem: the Secret Sidewalk.

Originally the Niles Canyon Aqueduct, this six-foot-wide concrete structure once transported water from Alameda Creek to the Sunol Filter Galleries in the 1920s.
It was also a backdrop for early 20th-century films, including Charlie Chaplin’s “The Tramp.”
More recently, local tales speak of the “White Witch of Niles Canyon,” a mysterious hitchhiking apparition adding an element of intrigue to the area.
Access Details:
Please note, portions of the Secret Sidewalk cross private property and are marked with “No Trespassing” signs.
Do not go here:
1. It’s trespassing. I’m sharing this spot as (a) it’s widely known and (b) under strong consideration to turn into a park
2. There’s a hell of a lot of poison oak. Note how I am dressed in the video to protect myself
3. The area is not safe. Avoid walking by the river area, particularly alone.
Given the nature of this trail, I will not be sharing my unusual trail guide (but will rather put a blog together on it).
Consider these notes:
1. Ropes are required to navigate steep hills
2. There are downed trees on the sidewalk to Navigate
3. This is not a long hike, but has multiple dangers.
