But what exactly is going on? 👇 Answer: You’re watching quantum levitation, also known as quantum locking. The black disk is a high-temperature superconductor, pre-cooled in liquid nitrogen (~77 K). Once it reaches its critical temperature, it enters a unique quantum state with two key effects: 1. Meissner Effect – the superconductor expels all magnetic fields from inside, acting as a perfect diamagnet. This causes levitation over magnets. 2. Quantum Locking – in non-uniform magnetic fields, some magnetic flux lines penetrate the superconductor as quantized vortices. Bunun nedeni sıvıların süper soğuma olarak adlandırılan tuhaf bir özelliğidir. Bu durum su donma noktasının altına düştüğünde ancak hala katılaşmadığında ortaya çıkar. Suyun donması için iki şeye ihtiyacı vardır; 1️⃣ Birincisi, düşük enerjiye sahip olması yani yeterince soğuk olması. İkincisi, ilk katı buz kristalinin ortaya çıkarak çekirdeklenme olayını başlatması, bu daha sonra etrafındaki diğer su moleküllerinin bağlar oluşturması ve yayılarak ilerlemesini sağlar. Watch the water CLOSELY! What's happening here is something called SUPERCOOLING. But why does it freeze instantly like this? This bottle of water had been in the freezer but hadn't yet frozen. This is because it is purified - water with very few particulates (little 'bits' like minerals). For water to freeze, it needs little bits to freeze around - without those present, the water just stays really really cold! However, when I slam the bottle, the water molecules bump into each other which kick-starts the freezing process and forces the molecules to start arranging themselves in their icy crystal structure! As a cold spell is coming, I thought I'd reshare this little supercooling water video from 2016! Way back when I first started trying science demos at home in my kitchen :-) #scienceexperiment #supercooling #frozen
