📍Day 4: Difference between Supervised vs Unsupervised Learning cheatsheet. ⬇️ Save it for Later👇 1. Supervised and unsupervised learning are two key approaches in machine learning. 2. In supervised learning, the model is trained with labeled data where each input is paired with a corresponding output. 3. On the other hand, unsupervised learning involves training the model with unlabeled data where the task is to uncover patterns, structures or relationships within the data without predefined outputs. ✅ Type ‘supervised’ in the comment section and we will DM the PDF version for FREE ✨ ⏰ Like this post? For students who struggle with these skills, direct instruction is necessary to help them understand how and when to use them. 1. Use “think-alouds”: Narrate your own thought process when planning a lesson, solving a problem, or managing an emotion. This gives students a concrete example of how to apply these skills. 2. Practice with real scenarios: Use real-life situations to discuss problem-solving. For an older student example, discuss how a student could manage their time to study for a test and still attend a social event. 3. Encourage self-reflection: Periodically ask students to reflect on their own behaviors. For instance, “What was distracting you during that lesson, and how can you refocus next time?”. A lot of this work is SEL focused — so you can connect this instruction within any of your core instruction, during morning circle, or during 1-on-1 student conversations. #teacherlife #thesidesofteaching #dayinthelifeofateacher #teacher #teachersofig #teachersofinstagram #teachertips #executivefunctioning #classroommanagement

Textbooks are great... if you enjoy reading 😬 If you’re a visual learner, a 2D diagram in a textbook is basically a riddle. You don’t need more “study hours”—you need to see the concepts in 3D. If you want to actually master complex subjects (like Physics or Finance) without the mental breakdown, you need to change how you consume the info. Here are 3 tips to hack your brain as a visual learner: 1. Clickable Transcripts are your “Ctrl + F”: Stop scrolling through a 20-minute video to find one explanation. Use a full clickable transcript to jump directly to the keyword you’re confused about, so you can re-watch the specific 10 seconds that actually matter for your exam. 1. 2. The “3D Model” Rule: If you can’t visualize how a concept moves or rotates in space, you don’t truly understand it. Use AI to turn your flat, boring lecture slides into 3D models you can actually see from every angle—it’s the difference between “memorizing” and “knowing.” 2. 3. Stop Searching, Start Generating: Don’t waste an hour on YouTube looking for a video that might match your professor’s specific lesson. Upload your actual notes into Learnable and let it generate a custom video explanation tailored exactly to your curriculum. 3. STOP 🛑 staring at your notes, START ✅ seeing them. Did you know the most ineffective way to teach a student is the teacher in front of the classroom model? Yet that’s what most of our traditional schools still use. With AI technology, students can get a 1-1 personalized learning journey at their level and pace. Which means a 10 year old boy can be in 4th grade science, 9th grade algebra, and 6th grade reading- all while sitting next to his buddy on a different personalized learning journey. And the best part of all? Our students do this personalized learning journey in only 2 hours each day, and they complete multiple grade levels in one calendar year this way. Our students test in the top 2% nationwide, and they all learn completely on AI apps. But the humans in our school are actually what make this system successful. The motivation model is what gets skipped over by all the media coverage we receive. Our adults are trained to connect and motivate every student- think favorite teacher energy- and they are the reason why our AI apps and Education technology are so extremely successful. And we do all of this the first 2 hours of the day- why? So the rest of the day can be spent on project based learning around life skills, the things that really matter. With multiple recesses and outside time factored in of course!

Have you ever experienced learned helplessness? The Original Learned Helplessness Experiment: Before the classroom demo, the concept was first identified in 1967 by Martin Seligman and Steven F. Maier. In their original experiment, dogs were divided into three groups: one group could stop shocks by pressing a lever, another group received the same shocks but had no control over them, and a third group received no shocks at all. What Happened: When all three groups were later placed in a shuttle box, the dogs that had previously experienced control quickly learned to escape. The dogs that had been exposed to uncontrollable shocks often did not even try to escape, even though the solution was right in front of them. Why It Matters: This experiment helped show that repeated exposure to uncontrollable stress can lead to passivity, reduced motivation, and the expectation that effort will not change outcomes. That insight became central to how psychologists understand helplessness, depression, and motivation. Reel: Dr. Charisse Nixon’s classroom demo makes learned helplessness easy to see, but the idea began with the original 1967 experiment by Seligman and Maier. In that study, animals exposed to uncontrollable stress later failed to act even when escape was possible. The takeaway was powerful: when people or animals learn that their actions do not matter, they may stop trying altogether. 💥You can literally rewire your child’s brain with a whiteboard and markers. Draw 8–10 dots in a line (4–5 per side) and have your child use both hands at the same time to draw: ⭐ Loops ⚡ Zigzags 💛 Hearts 🌟 Stars ➡️ Try same-direction (both moving out or in) and mirrored (one left, one right). ➡️ Bonus: write the alphabet mirrored 🧠 Why this changes the brain: When both hands move together, the left and right hemispheres must communicate through the corpus callosum — the brain’s main bridge. That cross-talk strengthens neural pathways that integrate movement, timing, language, and vision — the same systems used for reading and focus. Every repetition increases myelination (the insulation on brain cells), making signals travel faster and smoother — literally improving how efficiently the brain learns. 📖 Why it helps reading: Reading isn’t just recognizing letters — it’s a whole-brain skill. The left brain decodes sounds and words; the right brain handles rhythm, comprehension, and context. For smooth reading, both must sync perfectly. Bilateral drawing trains that synchronization, helping eyes track left to right, improve timing, and build the coordination reading depends on. This fun and easy whiteboard game focuses on bilateral hand coordination which: ✅ Strengthens brain connectivity ✅ Improves focus & attention ✅ Boosts reading fluency & confidence This isn’t just art — it’s brain training disguised as fun. 🧠 Comment REWIRED to join our app waitlist and learn more simple ways to build your child’s brain + body connection. #BrainTraining #BilateralIntegration #ChildDevelopment #ReadingSkills #FocusAndAttention #Neuroplasticity #RewiredKids #PrimitiveReflexes #BrainBodyConnection #MovementMatters #KidsFocus #LearningThroughMovement

IEP, Behavioural intervention programs, safety plans, behaviour tracking and recommendations. You name it, teacher do it! And the number of student behavioural needs doesn’t seem to be going down! @magicschoolai has a great tool to give you a jumping off point when making behaviour recommendation for students. Of course AI does not know your student so you will have to read over and customize the output but it’s a great jumping off point!
