Mornings can be challenging in our house! A very impatient Bodi and a screaming Kaiden in the background 🥴❤️ Bodi struggles immensely with wait time as you can see here. Once breakfast is out of the way I get myself ready, then I dress my son Kaiden and get him into his wheelchair, then I shower and dress Bodi last. I try to time it so he is ready as soon as his support worker arrives to take him out. I had him ready 5 minutes too early here. My brother Bodi is 31, profoundly Autistic, non verbal, very vocal and he has challenging behaviours. My son Kaiden is 10, Autistic level 2 and he has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. ❤️❤️ #profoundautism #autism #duchennemusculardystrophy #disability #specialneeds

Ranting to your bestie about Access to Work. If you’ve faced a problem like me, please share this with us via our short webform to help us continue to maintain pressure on the government to fix the scheme. Search “What's your experience of Access to Work – RNIB” in your browser. [Video description and transcript: A voice note is being played. The background is a rainy, dark and wintery scene. There are leaves hanging down and gently swaying in the wind. "Hi, I’m Holly. I’m a Social Media Manager and I applied to Access to Work for a support worker to assist me in my role. I submitted my application in August and just found out that it won’t be reviewed for at least another six months. That means that I’ll have waited nine months before Access to Work reviews my application. Nine months. If it’s approved, then there’s then a lengthy process to go through till I can get the support I need to do my job. Thousands of blind and partially sighted people, like me, are facing difficulties with Access to Work, making barriers to employment even worse for many. At RNIB we’re also very concerned that awards are being cut at renewal for some people with sight loss. This has to stop. The government must tackle the backlog and protect the scheme."]

Happy Nursing Support Worker Day! Today we celebrate the people who hold our wards together, the quiet heroes who keep patients safe, lighten the emotional load, and bring heart, compassion and humanity into every corner of the NHS. Support workers are the backbone of patient care. They sit with patients when we’re pulled in every direction. They notice the things others miss. They bring comfort, stability, grounding and teamwork into some of the most pressurised environments in healthcare. And yet… they often receive the least recognition. So today, I want to say this clearly: You are seen. You are valued. You are essential. Healthcare would not function without you. Every cup of tea. Every set of observations. Every word of reassurance. Every moment of patience. Every act of kindness. —it all matters more than you can imagine. As nurses, we rely on you. Patients rely on you. The whole system relies on you. To every HCA, nursing assistant and support worker: Thank you for the work you do, the love you give, and the emotional labour you carry. The NHS could not stand without you. Today, we honour you. Tag a Support worker/HCA who needs to hear this today! #hca #supportworker #nhs

CNAs and CNPs hold up half the sky, giving and providing care to patients that often gets taken for granted. Give it up for our healthcare heroes. ❤️✨ 🖼 @morgansandiego #Nursing #HealthcareIsAHumanRight #Repost• @morgansandiego I know I said I would focus on nurses week this week until Wednesday. But National Nursing Assistant week is June 17-24. Before I became a nurse, while in nursing school I worked as an anesthesia technician in the OR then a CNA/nurse extern in pediatric pacu and adult psych. Having these experiences were invaluable in developing my basic nursing skills and the culture of patient care. I believe that being a support worker made me a better registered nurse & a better nurse practitioner. I understand quite a few of you may work in the ICU setting where you don’t have CNAs. Where I worked as a house supervisor our ICU had at least one CNA and if they called out there would be hell to pay. CNAs are absolutely necessary. CNAs are absolutely needed. We could not do our job without you. We see you! Thank you!

20 Australian care homes are hiring & sponsoring overseas workers 🇦🇺 (save this) Aged care is short-staffed across Australia. If you’ve got experience as a nurse, support worker/PCA, therapy aide, kitchen/cleaning, or admin—this is your door in. Why this is smart • Employer sponsorship → clear PR pathway (ENS 186) • Many sites offer relocation help + onboarding • Strong demand in every state, flexible shifts • Spouses can work on most partner visas • Cert III/IV in Aged Care boosts your chances Quick steps (with links) • Read the official sponsorship route (ENS 186) → http://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/visa-listing/employer-nomination-scheme-186 • Nurses: check AHPRA registration → http://www.ahpra.gov.au/ • Open each provider’s Careers page in the graphic and search “visa sponsorship / overseas applicants”. • Send a healthcare-style CV (duties, hours/week, meds handling) + 2 referees; ask HR about sponsorship stream, location, pay band, relocation. Note Not every vacancy sponsors—read each ad carefully and only use official company sites. Never pay third parties. Zuhair is a young carer for his much loved two younger siblings Mo and Elaine who were both diagnosed with a form of ataxia six years ago, ataxia is a progressive degenerative disease that affects balance, control and eye movement. Caring for Mo and Elaine involves the whole family and this became especially hard following a car accident which left Zuhair’s mother temporarily unable to walk. Zuhair started to care more  for his siblings to enable his father to keep working. Like so many young carers, this has at times left Zuhair feeling isolated and struggling with his mental health. Zuhair has been supported by @PKAVScharity, which are funded by BBC Children in Need to deliver support to young carers. The support worker at PKAVS acts as a lifeline for Zuhair and his other sister Layan, also a young carer for the family. Attending PKAVS has enabled Zuhair to meet other young carers like him, providing him with the opportunity to feel more connected to peers going through similar challenges. This year, Zuhair is one five inspirational youngsters forming @bbctheoneshow's Surprise Squad 🌟

I worked a lot during uni. I managed to invest, buy an apartment, earn 100k, and travel to so many countries, BUT I did have to go part time at uni and failed a few units along the way. At one point, a lecturer told me that they were concerned I wouldn’t do well at placement or once I’d graduated and was out in the real world. Very interesting given that I’d been doing well as a support worker “in the real world” for years, and that my placement evaluations were always great. There’s soooo much more to life outside of uni, and school, and you can change your mind too. I never would have imagined that I’d end up writing a best selling investing book, or have a top 10 business podcast. I had such a good night at the first How To Not Work Forever book launch. Thank you to everyone for coming, and being so lovely and supportive 🫶🏻🥰
